XAircraft Will the superx have a fast blinking red

Can't open the software? Hmm. Are you in windows?

XAircraft Will the superx have a fast blinking red

Pumpkin it is important to do everything the manual says in the setup and exactly the way it is described. You'll get it. My biggest hangup was power. I was using a stepdown converter to give the SX 5 volts. Wouldn't work until I hooked the SX directly up to 6S power from the PDB.

Oh for sure. I wouldn't want to power something like that from the SX, RX or anything potentially weak like that. I'd step down (if needed) directly from the PDB.

Yep. My old one was a way older pic of my hex. Thought I should use my logo. Do you think it's cool?

Suggestions for portable copter to carry Sony RX100 or similar

I have a big hexa for carrying a Nex or DSLR. Thinking of building a more "portable" photo/video bird for travel, which can carry my Canon S95 or maybe a Sony RX100 on a gimbal. NO GoPro. Suggestions?

Jeff, That UBEC would still get its power from the PDB or main battery, right?

XAircraft Will the superx have a fast blinking red

Fast red indicates an error. Could be many things. GPS not plugged in or deffective. TX not turned on. TX turned on but throttle is up. I suppose motors not attached could be one.

Correct. Yes I've liked the Taranis with SBUS. Saves on cabling, failure points, and weight. I'm only using SBUS for 1-8 though. 9-16 is all the strange stuff I have like switchable LED's, camera pitch and roll etc.

I'd have to look at it to be sure. I think the wire coming from the PDB to the XT60 is 16... hold on... looking. Okay... from the PDB to the XT60 is 16 and the Futaba wire is 20. The XT60 is there because I was running an FrSky voltage monitor with telemetry at one time. But, since I got a...

Yep it is a T960 frame. The IMU is level with the top frame plate and the "shelf" has the I/O. I may move the I/O to the top plate as well and put the GPS on a removable tower so I can pack the bird in a thinner case. It's always a work in progress but this setup has been solid for a while.

X: He bought it used. Here's mine. I pulled the SBUS and GPS connectors to make it more easy to see. That connection comes directly from the PDB, 6S.

XAircraft First crash. Boo. Flipped on takeoff.

Thanks for that. Seems logical. I'd prefer to do test flights in a more open area, the tweak-fly-tweak-fly cycle makes that hard. I just need to stay clear of my house. Almost saw the bird crash into the 2nd floor, careem off of the garage roof and splatter on the driveway.

XAircraft First crash. Boo. Flipped on takeoff.

Since all in this thread are GPS experts and I'm not, riddle me this. My SX is normally rock solid. It normally hovers in place and does NOT move. Rotates on a dime. Close to my house though, it wants to fly INTO the side of my house when it should be hovering. I have to counteract it to...

XAircraft First crash. Boo. Flipped on takeoff.

Even though I flipped once, I'm not THAT worried about it. To answer your question, the size of the copter would have an impact. For instance, my gains and setup are tweaked for about a 7KG setup. If I were to remove the gimbal and camera I'd be knocking that down quite a bit and the bird...

XAircraft First crash. Boo. Flipped on takeoff.

With my SX I've taken off successfully in GPS mode at least 200 times. One bad time, probably getting too quick on the throttle.

XAircraft First crash. Boo. Flipped on takeoff.

I blogged about getting my bird back up and running. I've been more cautious since the flip and had no issues. I'd conclude that it was pilot error at this point, taking off too quickly. Once in a while the bird does want to go a bit sideways when taking off. Not sure if that's a motor...

    XAircraft Black Box Data Analysis

...and you can see your log ending in .26 shows a better range for your motor percentages, around 50%. What TX are you using? Taranis perhaps? I saw the G knob on your first log was at -15 and the second was at +15.

    XAircraft Black Box Data Analysis

The logging feature is SO useful. Log ending in .17 I see a couple of key points in time. 16:53 starts a big drop in voltage and the nose dives. Motor 1 hits 99%. I'd guess the big drop in voltage is because of the jump in motor power. But why? The most bizarre thing to me is your...

    Zhaoyun rolling a few degrees

As predicted the gimbal rolled a few degrees off in the cold. I tweaked it with the roll knob and it leveled out. HOWEVER, I still need to adjust the speed at which the gimbal rolls I guess. When yawing and straightening out the roll is again tweaked, and takes several seconds to level out.
