    Recommendation for a noob

Well, any "all inclusive" selection is going to come with it's own controller by definition. What you can do is find sellers that have Ready-To-Fly packages and they will build it for you. The cost tends to be minimal. For example, here's a RTF F450...

    Recommendation for a noob

Purely as a starter and beginner entry only choice, its a good choice. But it isn't going to get you far in the aerial photography business. Even the GoPro is considered an entry level camera, and the Phantom Vision camera has even less capabilities than the GoPro, not to mention being limited...

    What to Buy??

All good options. But, yes, I would recommend starting with a quad. You'll find it easier to learn on, less expensive for all the times you'll crash learning to fly. ;)

    Recommendation for a noob

Yes, a lot of information, and good stuff on this forum. Check the group build mentioned above and that should help. I also used to spend a lot of time looking at the Ready-To-Fly systems that were out there, where a company did the research and selected the components. So I would look at the...

    S800EVO+GH3: yaw strange problem!

Thanks for clarifying. Sadly, I don't have an answer... :(

    What to Buy??

I definitely recommend you have a practice MR that you can use and fly first and get really familiar with the controls and make maneuvering second nature. A Phantom is a good choice for that, or an F450. As for where to buy? Well, Futaba and DJI stuff are very popular and are sold by hundred...

    S800EVO+GH3: yaw strange problem!

Can you explain a bit more? When in single pilot, don't you have the gimbal in "locked forward" mode and all you're doing is controlling the tilt? I don't have the GH3 Zen, but I do have the NEX version, and when flying single person, I only adjust tilt.

    What to Buy??

Partially agree with tstrike. The stock F550 can only lift the lighter mirrorless cameras (NEX-5, NEX-7, Panasonic GM1), but can handle a lighter gimbal for those (like a Tarot, but not a Zenmuse). I have several friends that have F550+gimbal+NEX. Not sure of the gimbals each use, but one...

    What to Buy??

I would start by looking at: - DJI F550 frame, start with stock motors and ESCs to keep cost within your budget, - Naza V2 flight controller, - Futaba 8FG or 8J, with either R6208SB receiver, or FrSky S-bus compatible receiver (http://www.alofthobbies.com/frsky-tfr4sb-fasst-sbus-receiver.html)...

    Recommendation for a noob

HoverRound, in case you were wondering, the price difference wasn't you building it yourself versus someone else building it. Of the Ready-to-fly kits I listed above, if you were to buy the components individually and build it yourself, you would only be saving about 5% of the cost. The cost...

    Recommendation for a noob

Depends on what are talking about when you say "under $1000". If you're including gimbal and batteries and transmitters and groundstations, it's not easily going to happen, and especially if you're wanting room for growth. In the vicinity of the Phantom you have the F450 and the F550. You can...

    New stupid question

Yes, you are correct. If the MR is nice and balanced out, it shouldn't drift in Manual mode unless there is wind. But since Manual mode is the closest thing to direct control to aircraft movement, trim is acceptable as you pointed out. The other two modes are computer controlled modes which...

    New stupid question

To answer your direct question, no, with flight controllers you generally shouldn't use trim, at least not in GPS or attitude modes, and should try the imbalance that's causing the drift as bensid and quadro implied. However, it may also be an indication of gains needing to be tightened up a...

    Inaccurate Voltage with IOSD -

Guys, let me see if I can clarify the problem Tim(R6media) has as I understand it, and you can correct me. The problem seems to have nothing to do with voltage sag and/or internal resistance. We all know the voltage is going to sag once a load is placed on the motor which is what all the data...

Great to hear that! Sounds like a great solution, one that I might have to consider for my next setup. Thanks for the update. Happy Thanksgiving!

    WARNING - Firmware 5.24

Sochin33, I wouldn't even be scared. I have been using 5.24 and 5.26 in the U.S. with absolutely no problem. The issue that started this thread is the one about GPS mode dropping out and reverting to Attitude mode. When I took my S800+WKM down to Central America a few months ago I did observe...

    NAZA/F550 build done..no joy...need help from experts

Since you said you see the stick movement in the assistant software, that indicated your binding and physical connection is good. So the next thing is to ensure your transmitter is outputting channels 1 thru 7 and that they are mapped to sticks and switches correctly. So from the main Assist SW...

    NAZA/F550 build done..no joy...need help from experts

Zachsparw, it looks like you do have it connected up correctly, both from your description, and the photo. And, as you said, your stick movement is showing in the software assistant. So the next question that comes to mind is if you see all the Naza channels responding in the assistant...

Show what you filmed - Post Your Video Here

Agree with both, wholeheartedly. The ease and availability camera-carrying MRs that are so stable does have this drawback. But it is the way things are going, and soon enough these inexperienced guys will have wised up (if not already) and can hopefully teach others from their experiences and...

Thanks for posting that FlyGirl. I was going to comment earlier on the venting and jumping to conclusions... something that I have been guilty to myself. Thanks for the followup post.
