All manual on the ground. No camera control in flight for me. After a short while you'll just know what exposures to use by just looking around you. What I hate is the intermittent cloudy days we have in England where it can be bright sun one minute and heavy cloud the next!

Compared to my old 14mm lens I find it lets in a little less light so somewhere between 8-10 seems to be my sweet spot. 1/50th shutter as usual with a 3-stops ND on.

I've only had one 4K job so far, a Red Bull mountain bike race, but to be honest I prefer the high bitrate 1080p. For TV work it is just brilliant and all that extra information is great in the edit.

I use manual everything, including WB and ISO. To be honest I find I never really venture outside of ISO 200 unless it's really low light. I focus to infinity and pull it back a little bit, just so it's touching the infinity symbol. Got absolutely brilliant results from the GH4 so far!

S900 Owner's Thread and Mini Build Log

I'm sticking with the shorter legs, they look cooler! I just use the foam from the Peli case to initialize on then place the rig on the ground for take off.

Beautiful Scotland - My Aerial showreel

That was awesome! No wonder it got 28K views! To all those who put down Phantom flyers, na na nana na! :beguiled:

I installed the beta version and it is perfect. It's worth waiting for.

    Channels. How many is enough?

11 is enough. :nevreness: (basically you'll need one more channel than you have, that's life!)

I wouldn't worry about it. My old Zen has done that for a year, I barely notice it and it rarely happens at a critical time. If you PM Tahoe Ed he may have a fix for you. :02.47-tranquillity:

The ALL New DJI S900 Hexacopter!

They seem okay, but your imu is 9cm above the CoG. Seems a little high to me. Of course I know very little about CoG! :nevreness: I have mine at 1cm above CoG, which is very low. My aircraft flies great though. I think you'll be fine with those settings.

    New battery, got problems...great!

Are the signal wires from the ESC plugged in the correct way round? As we're not hearing the ESC make an initialisation noise upon startup the problem must be with the ESC connections somewhere.

How do you transport your multi rotor?

I do it in a giant and expensive Peli case (and a cheap Citroen Xsara...)

The ALL New DJI S900 Hexacopter!

Thanks MBF! Admittedly my aircraft has been relatively niggle free. I do treat it with care though. I've had a couple of ESC failures in flight which meant I had to land and put a new arm on, but I know how to spot the signs beforehand now. Yes, my deans got slightly warm after a long day of...

Oh-no, not sparks! :nevreness: I used Deans for the last year and a half on my S800 so anything seems perfect to me!

I went for EC5's. Why wouldn't I? They are perfect for what we are using them for and very over-rated for the type of current we are likely to be pulling. I think they are rated for 120A continuous, way more than my S900 is going to pull, even when peaking!

PM tahoe ed. I'm not sure the fix is on general release yet.

Oh, and shutter is all working now. Thanks Mr Ed! :nevreness:

You can do it yourself. Just loosen the two screws on the vertical part (at the back) and drop the entire lower assembly down a bit. Don't loosen too much or let the parts separate as that would damage the Zen (I would imagine). Don't worry, it seems pretty stiff so it's unlikely to fall off...

Totally agree. it should work all the time everytime. Except indoors of course. Commercially in the UK it must be working to conduct a flight as failsafe is a requirement.
