The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

I can't remember the name of the company. It was a concept put together by a bunch of young engineers in the American Midwest and initially marketed to some of our military. The payload is a modular arrangement that permits swapping of one type to another using the same turret set up. At the...

RTF vs ATF for a newbie...?

Things depend a lot on where you want to go. If you have plans to increase your scope my thoughts have a 550 about as small as you want to go. You'll end up wanting to carry some weight, fit a decent gimbal and camera, a video Tx or two, dual batteries, perhaps another for the video stuff...

The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

There's a somewhat different rule set for law enforcement. Things are easier for them. OTH, that copter is not noted as being in any way robust.

The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

This release pretty much shuts down my efforts in establishing a waiver documentation service but that's not a bad thing at all. At the same time the release actually expands the opportunities for the technical documentation side though. The doors are opening up for everyone so strong...

The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

Someone screwed the pooch with the following. 24 attempts from 06:59 Pacific to 07:51 Pacific have provided zero connections. AA Home ▸ News ▸ Media Advisories Media Advisory – DOT and FAA Announce New Rules for Unmanned Aircraft Systems Print Share February 14, 2015 WHEN: 10 a.m., Sunday...

The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

I've checked the number and time at 4 different sources, including the DOT and FAA sites, all have the same info. Seems somebody failed to set things up.

The Hour Is Upon US! FAA To Divulge New sUAS Regulations Today (Sunday 2/15/2015)!

Getting an ATT message there are no teleconferences on schedule at the call in number (800-230-1059) for the DOT brief. It's 07:02 Pacific, 10:02 Eastern. Anyone else doing any better?

    looking for recommendation...

I really agree with Carapau's advice. Having the flying rig and having to hunt down a payload that both fits and serves a specific purpose afterwards makes things pretty rough.

RTF vs ATF for a newbie...?

Personally, I would avoid anything with "Phantom" in the name. There are more advanced, reliable, capable, and versatile products on the market in the RTF category. 3D Robotics Iris+ and X-8 being at the top. If you elect to "get involved" and go the ARTF route note that the Flight controller...

    Difference between CPPM and S-BUS?

Sorry Gary, I failed to note you're in Spain. The AMA is the Academy of Model Aeronautics but the doesn't matter. The description in the magazine blows compared to what econfly provided.

    Difference between CPPM and S-BUS?

The latest AMA magazine has an article that describes the differences sort of well. Worth reading. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    FAA may get Drones Right.

Even at 5k it would work. No pilot's license, no ASTM requirements, I think, and general use regulations. Sounds too good to be true. Keep the fingers crossed such an NPRM is actually released. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    FAA may get Drones Right.

Let's all hope this is true. As of 20:30 Pacific last night the FAA document had not been posted on the NPRM releases docket. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

    Skyjib X4 with 540mm booms + KDE5215XF-435 - too much and powerful?

One thing to consider, with the Movi style gear and turn table your gear will never fail, or be in the frame. A few little screws is all you need to remove to make the copter flat and the entire gimbal/gear slides into a shipping box. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

Only 33 things to do to stay legal in the US

They are not making it as simple as it should be. Once government gets in involved it seems things always go that way. Of course we have the additional factor or corporations "assisting" the government is building the process and I can't see that as beneficial to the average person.

    3drobotics.com out of Pixhawk

I was talking about this with the owner of Scheer Bros Hobbies in Montana tonight. He did some checking with his supplier and it appears he has no problem obtaining all the parts for complete Pixhawk systems, including the Ublox GPS. www.scheerbros,com

Only 33 things to do to stay legal in the US

So where's the problem?..... On a serious note, there's a ton of work that went into getting that waiver, and that one in particular was not one of the better looking ones. But by God he did it!
