What are your goals to improve your flying skills?

One of the things that I have a big problem with is nose-in hovering with unstabilized multirotor craft. I can fly nose in, meaning as long as the craft is moving I have no problem with it facing me, it's only when I stop moving and try to keep it hovering in the same spot it all falls apart...

    what to use

I'm interested to see how this works out for you, I like what I've read about this setup but I'm not really into having to compile code and work with a setup that is potentially even more complex than dialing in an MK. It's certainly well within my ability to do it, it's just that these days I'd...

    Another new flight control board

Today Hoverfly announced a new flight control board they have developed, the HoverflySport. The Sport is a subset of the bigger Hoverfly Pro without all the bells and whistles like auto leveling, onboard OSD, and camera mount stabilization, obviously aimed more at the aerobatic and sport flying...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

I've done a half dozen or so flights using the new code on the stock Hexa and no problems so far though I haven't tried to use any of the new "features" like POI yet. I have used position hold, altitude hold and come home as well as carefree and haven't seen any glitches there yet, I expect if...

    New Area - Software/Firmware

And just to get things rolling I moved a couple of relevant threads over from the general discussion category! Ken

    X8 build

It's actually much simpler than that, my job is remote from my employer by about 1500 miles, meaning I work from my home via phone and computer. When things are slow I'm already sitting in the same room as the helis and multis so it's no big thing to step across the room and twiddle a screw...

    X8 build

I was at one time but then I got married and my wife took away the Tardis ;)

    X8 build

After buying the Avertical camera mount I came to the conclusion that a stock MK Hexa was just a bit too underpowered to carry the mount along with a camera, well that and the fact that it takes ridiculously long landing gear to fit the mount underneath which I was able to solve with a set of...

    3axis camera mount x650

I think you really only need a two axis with a multi, the pan is done with yaw control. If you want true full pan capability you'll need to either have retractable landing gear or have the gear attached to the mount so that it rotates along with the camera platform and doesn't get in the view of...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

The setup looks OK, did you use Carefree mode while flying the waypoints? Carefree has to be working and turned on for POI to work. Ken

    Audio or not?

My video TX has a built in mic and it sends the signal down the line along with video from the camera, volume is adjustable. That said it's usually just a whole lot of wind noise and not particulary useful unless you want the full immersion of sound with video. Ken

    Ohio guy joining in.

I just noticed this over on "that other site that shall remain nameless", in reference to our favorite frame company... just a tiny bit over the top I'd say, talk about having a bug up your a** about something, this is ridiculous. Still its not as bad a certain RC Heli related site I...

    XAircraft X650 build thread

Most all of the flight controllers for quads provide power to the receiver across the interconnection wires from their own 5 volt circuits or pass through from the ESC battery eliminator circuit. I don't own an X650 so I can't say for certain in that case but I don't see it being any different...

    Lacking anything better to do...

That's why I bought some thirty odd linear feet of 1/2 x 1/2 square alloy tubing, I can crash the Silver Bullet day after day and have plenty of material to make new arms from. Problem is, that's exactly what seems to be happening, everytime I bring the little guy out to the big flying field I...

    Lacking anything better to do...

Now that I've got the majority of the fleet sorted and ready to fly once the weather improves I was sitting here last night looking at the bare Gaui 330X frame hanging on the tail boom of a heli on top of the workbench and thinking I really should do something with it. Prior to it becoming a...

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

You can say pretty much anything you want as long as it's not X rated, we don't know what censorship is here! Droidworx, Droidworx, Droidworx, RC Groups... See, it works...;) Ken

    Quad flyaway

I was actually thinking of having a small run of the bare boards made and then just posting the parts list so people that are up to it can make their own. Not sure how feasible that is since the chip does have to be programmed and that takes more than just basic soldering skills. I know it can...

OSD for FPV on a Mikrokopter?

I'm just starting to catch up on posts so I just saw this, been busy sorting out two MK powered Hexas, the Hoverfly quad, and repairing the little 350mm KK quad. Thanks for the offer, I do have an XBee setup but plans have changed just a bit since my original post. I just completed building a...

    Quad flyaway

Yes it does especially when you consider the guy that designed and builds them charges 25 Euros for the assembled board which works out to $35, what I paid for the diversity board currently on my AD-6. I'm all for free enterprise and making a profit, but a 100% markup on an open source project...

    Testing the new/old MK Hexa

Try this, turn off A/H completely in MKtool and see how it responds then. If it works right turn it back on and see if it stops working again. Why it would do that is anyones guess at this point, but what I would do from there is reload the firmware, reinitialize the eprom and reset anything you...
