    Mikrokopter Mikrokopter GPS Shield

I'm not sure of this but I think 9 or 10 satellites is enough to get workable altitude hold from the GPS as well as the normal positioning thus the 3DGPS, I seem to remember reading that somewhere. Ken P.S. the Timelords left a couple extra GPS sats over the UK to aid in Tardis navigation...

    Mikrokopter Mikrokopter GPS Shield

There is a battery on the GPS board and if its not charged fully the board will take a long time to get a full lock. You should probably leave it powered up for 12 hours or so to make sure the battery is charged then try again. FWIW, new GPS board on my stock Hexa will lock on much quicker...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

Doubt very much the HS 5065 servos I have on the HiSight could draw enough power to take down the F/C board so that's probably not related to what happened, at least in this case. On the other hand, I only flew it once before with the SD card installed, just got it a week ago and popped it in...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

I flew this bird to some serious altitude at the flying field on the new firmware with a camera on the mount at least a half dozen times without problems, fortunately it picked low altitude with no camera in my yard to go whacko, so I don't think flying it on .84 without the servos connected...

New Contender to the MultiRotor Market

I sold my Spectra G a few weeks ago to finance the build of MK Hexa #2 but I still have my XCell Fury Expert. Good quality stuff though everything I have is from before the company was bought by the current owners, hopefully the standards are the same and the pricing lower now that its not a mom...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

The MK was in completely manual flight mode at the time I had not switched in P/H or A/H though I was about to when it went off on its own, here's what the log shows... At 37 seconds into the flight the elevation reading dropped to zero and stayed there for the remainder of the flight...

    Spektrum Diversity board group buy

Is anyone interested in a Specktrum diversity board for their Mikrokopter? I'd like to get another one but refuse to pay 2X the builders price for one from the only commercial source I know of in the US, so if there's enough interest I'll inquire with the source on a price for however many there...

    Props, props, and more props

Well from the slightly more than 60 seconds of flight time I got on them before the MK went bonkers they seemed to be OK. One thing I noticed for certain is they're a LOT quieter than the Graupners, these have a kind of whispering sound where the Graupners sound like a swarm of angry bees...

    Mikrokopter firmware update .84

I think I might have just had my first confirmed MK firmware "incident". My stock Hexa has the .84 code loaded and so far has flown perfectly for 8 flights but just a few minutes ago I went out front to give it a short test flight with Xoar props and, well, it certainly was a short flight...

Mikrokopter Spektrum diversity board and the dx8?

The DX8 has problems and not all of them are RX related, the owner of the LHS has had his back for repair 3 times now. As much as I liked my DX7 I like my JR 11 X better, too many folks have had a lot of problems with the DX8 locally for me to consider owning one. On the diversity board if...

Things I learned at the field today

I'm finding the Vario A/H works really well on the AD-6 heavy lifter, midstick holds it in place perfectly and the rate of climb or descent is determined by how far either side of midpoint I set the throttle. What I do now is takeoff, get it roughly where I want it to stay, turn on P/H and vario...

    X8 build

Some of the bits I was waiting for arrived on Friday so this morning I decided to start upgrading the Hoverfly quad into its new incarnation as an X8 A/P ship. Here's what it looked like yesterday morning at the field, its the one front center on the top shelf... As you can see I had most...

Building a Mikrokopter a' la carte (from parts, no MK kit purchase)

All of these motors will work with 12 to 14 inch props though I would not put anything higher than 4.5 pitch on a 14 inch prop. I originally had the Graupner 11 x 5 on the heavy lifter and the big Pulso motors really were not happy, swapped to APC 12 x 3.8 which I thought would be too little...

    5mm X 8mm prop spacers

One of the reasons I prefer the Grauper plastic adaptors, I've found them to generally be about 4.85mm ID and a VERY snug fit on a 5mm prop adaptor, I've actually had to open them up with a 5mm drill bit in some instances where the shaft of the adaptor isn't threaded all the way to the bottom...

Mikrokopter Which Graupner props for a stock Hexa

Yes, 8mm bore, that's the main reason I originally made the Delrin adaptors you have a set of, so I could use Graupners on the standard MK motors when everyone was out of the 5mm adaptor hubs. Bart, I know rebalancing isn't that big of a deal I just don't like to make extra work when its...

Mikrokopter Which Graupner props for a stock Hexa

On a stock frame MK Hexa the only Graupner prop that will fit without any modifications is the 10 x 5 which none of the US MK dealers stock though they do have the 11 x 5. You can use the 11 x 5 Graupners IF you either replace all the arms with the 65mm longer Hexa XL arms, or modify the ends of...

Building a Mikrokopter a' la carte (from parts, no MK kit purchase)

Droidworx are good, expensive, but good. New frames and new designs are appearing almost daily, personally I'd like to have one of these but I have too much $ in high end equipment as it is right now... http://www.1001copters.com/lang-en/frame/2-hexastar-700.html For motors and heavy lift there...

What are your goals to improve your flying skills?

Went out back at lunch and ran through a couple battery packs working on nose in and amazingly enough I'm now to the point I can hold the little quad up in the air facing me for a good minute or more before I start to lose it and have to fly around a bit before I can get back to a steady nose in...
