    CineStar 6 WKM build

I like quick and easy, using the CS boom clamp was quick and easy and readily available. Sometimes things just fall into place, other times I find myself standing at the milling machine in the garage for hours making something that will work, all part of the fun! The motors will be AXI...

    CineStar 6 WKM build

The WKM Y6 is getting an upgrade, the WKM and other electronics are moving to a CineStar 6 frame along with the AV 130. Here's a side by side of the Y6 and the bare CS frame before starting the swap... Even though the Y6 has a 700mm motor to motor spacing the bare CS 6 makes it look...

    Mk BL2.0 with WKM ?

There's still some issues in windy conditions with the big ships. I was doing some testing the other day with my MK and WKM in the wind and the MK proved to be the more stable platform in gusty conditions. Although both of them did well for overall stability from the viewpoint of the camera the...

    Mk BL2.0 with WKM ?

It is possible to use the MK BL by sending the signal to the PPM pad but the firmware on the board is not optimized for use as a PWM speed controller so the real world performance is poor. Beyond that, why would you use a controller as expensive as the MK BL when the WKM will work with a set of...

OH NO! Where did that smoke come from????

I've found 6 volts to be quite sufficient using the Savox hi-res servos with the DJI, both on the AV130 and also with the Coptersky 2 axis GoPro mount. I tried higher voltages but it actually made the performance worse, the servos had a tendency to get jittery and center poorly at higher than...

View and Waypoint pricing is posted

To be honest I don't see many places where it fits at all. Anyone doing serious APV is more likely to be flying line of sight or FPV without using position hold/waypoint so while the View option could have some usefulness the click and go/waypoint isn't likely to find a home in that market. It's...

View and Waypoint pricing is posted

On the minisite at... http://www.dji-innovations.com/minisite/index_en.html For view you need either the 2.4 gHz or 900 mHz data link ($400 and $550) and the activation for view is included. For single waypoint capability you need the items above PLUS the waypoint activation for an...

    APC slow fly props

They don't shatter so much as they will chip and crack very easily in cold temps, generally at or below freezing which is most of late December through February for us here in the northeast. On my small aerobatic quads it was quite a challenge to keep a set intact for more than a couple flights...

    wookong software download

You can't, it's only available from the DJI server in zip file format. A Windows 7 PC can extract the files without needing to buy an unzip application. Ken

    My new Gaui 330 xs

I have an original Gaui 330X that I still fly occasionally, the V1 batch weren't nearly as nice as the later S versions and were a real challenge at times. My fleet has now grown to 8 that are ready to fly with enough bits and pieces hanging around to assemble 3 or 4 more before I would have to...

WKM and MK head to head part 2

That I remember from when I had my mkTR V1, the weight, my stock MK hexa V1 was pretty much maxxed out flying with it. My solution to that problem was a Droidworx AD6 heavy lifter with AV130...:) My WKM Y6 is being decomissioned this weekend, the controller and AV130 will be moving to a new...

    APC slow fly props

APC I buy direct from APC off their website, http://www.apcprop.com/v/index.html Graupners are available from three places in the US that I know of and if they're out of stock you can generally find what you need at Electricwingman in the UK. In the USA Mikrokopter.us and Quadrocopter, the two...

Falling out of the sky problem...

I've heard of people having the WKM simply fall out of the sky when it hit failsafe mode due to not having set any, or properly setup, failsafe during the build. I do it on everything although I try for a bit less than hover throttle so that in the case of lost signal the multi will tend to...

Falling out of the sky problem...

Can't say I've had that happen to either of mine and I've tested the low voltage monitoring until it autolanded. Do you have the throttle failsafe set to 1/2 throttle? If not you should it may prevent it from falling out of the sky, or maybe not, but worth making sure. Ken

WKM and MK head to head part 2

Here's the WKM setup... This is the only picture I can find of the MK with Hisight II at the moment, I have plenty of pics with other mounts under it but hardly any with the Hisight... The Copterworks GoPro mount was a disaster as delivered, I had to take it apart, fix all of...

    Air frames to choose

I think a better approach is to define exactly what you intend to do with it then it will be easier to make a decision. The camera(s) that will be carried, any peripheral gear such as OSD boards, Video downlink TX, number of batteries, etc. all add to the ready to fly weight and take up limited...

    APC slow fly props

I'm not a fan of APC either, their cold weather performance is poor and the amount of effort it takes to get them to balance is ridiculous, I've had some that defied all attempts to get them even close. Graupners are much better in the cold and just about any other weather condition plus they...

WKM and MK head to head part 2

This time with the little multis, representing Mikrokopter a box stock MK Hexa V1 with nav and a Hisight II camera mount (my original MK) and the WKM on an MK quad frame with Coptersky landing gear and 2 axis GoPro mount. Flights within a couple minutes of each other to about 300 feet using GPS...

    Basic Gain

Depends on the multi, my Y6 is a beast at any gain less than 200, usually I have it set up around 300% for best all around stability. Ken
