    Another Cinestar 8 and WKM

Ok, for that you need to look at this video, not a hex this time but a small quad built on an MK frame and carrying a 2 axis direct drive GoPro mount underneath. The faster banking stuff starts at 3:25 if you just want to cut to the chase. http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=RJlxAWbEkRQ The last 1:30...

    how windy is too windy?

DJI has a recommendation in the WKM manual, "Suitable Wind Condition: < 8m/s (17.7mph)" I'd pretty much agree with that for general flying, I've put my MK hexa in the air with winds closer to 20 mph and it was NOT fun, more like a battle for control and I got the feeling that the longer I...

    Another Cinestar 8 and WKM

Ok then, here's three that were made with the WKM in a hex configuration, first one was the very first attempt at doing a video with the WKM on a hex frame with a Photohigher AV130 and Sony Nex 5n... http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=SiRbbqi5z2w This one was the first time I flew the...

Do you fly in the snow?

Good advice, I was doing a little night flying two days ago with the latest incarnation of my Naza APV quad, ambient temps in the mid 20s F. Flew fine, biggest problem was keeping my hands warm enough that my fingers didn't stiffen up. As soon as I brought the quad back into the house it was...

With that setup and the cameras you plan to use I think you'll be happy with it. If you were planning to hang a Red Epic under it like Tabb does then you'd have some problems, smaller, lighter cameras produce very nice video on the CS/WKM platform. Right now I'm waiting to see the DJI Zenmuse...

-20cm from the IMU on boom #4 but only 10cm high. If/when I see a number of people have success with the Herc I'll think about making the swap. Until then I'm not into paying that much $ to try something out, or as I put it, pay full retail to be a beta tester yet again. BTDT... Ken

From observation the basic gain settings have much to do with how well, or not, GPS hold works. With high basic gains and the lower ATTI gains the large frames need, GPS seems to easily go into TB mode. Being able to lower the basic gains helps a lot, but two things I've found that seem to make...

    Another Cinestar 8 and WKM

I'm using the 4S 8000 packs, it does help. I was thinking of using a pair of them but that's an awful lot of weight up high on the frame vs what I carry underneath. One of the big problems and what Robert from DJI noted, it's extremely difficult to pin down the CoG as the WKM wants it...

    Another Cinestar 8 and WKM

I'm getting close to 10 minutes flight time on mine using 11 x 5 props but I'm not carrying nearly the load that you do. I'm searching for that magic combo of settings that will give the needed stability in all conditions regardless of load but I'm at the point of believeing its going to take...

Interesting observation from my recent swap to Maytech ESCs on my CS6. The Maytech are TX programmable for either 8 or 16 kHz switching rate, I set mine to 16 mainly because it eliminates the high pitched whine caused by the 8 kHz rate. With the Maytechs and their current settings I found I was...

Wookong vs. MK: is my math correct?

Your math is close but I would not include the assembly cost of the Mk disti board, just the number of BL controllers and the appropriate distribution board. In either case you also need to include the cost of the same number of PWM ESCs that will be used with the WKM to make it a fair...

    Erratic takeoff

All the gain settings being at 100% is the problem, I have 4 DJI flight controllers, 2 WKM and 2 Naza, and not one of them will fly right at default settings, including the Naza f450 kit. I recommend you increase the basic pitch and roll gains to at least 150% and decrease the ATTI gains to 80%...

Droidworx WKM Builds - Power Distribution

Looks heavy and I bet it is, that much wire adds up quickly. I like to use as little as I can get away with which also seems to aid the GPS in getting full lock much quicker. There's not a lot of room to work with in the middle between the booms and if you run the motor wires down the...

Droidworx WKM Builds - Power Distribution

Actually the board fits quite nicely inside the Droidworx, the hole spacing is the same as an MK flight controller board so it sits on standoffs in existing holes in the centerplate. All I did was add another set of standoffs on top of it and then a smaller centerplate from another frame I have...

Gains settings for an okto wkm av200/360

Hard to say without a lot more information about your setup like which motors, props, RTF weight, and what the current settings are. From personal experience I'd start with basic pitch and roll set to 250, yaw at 200, and vertical at 175. ATTI gain I'd start with 70% and see how it reacts to...

    DJI Software improvement.

You can actually do this with the current software. If you are using X3 for camera platform tilt, go to the gimbal tab and set the Manual Control Speed to zero. You can now assign X3 to ATTI gains and have X2 assigned to basic pitch and roll gains and then use which ever controls you have...

Droidworx WKM Builds - Power Distribution

I thought I had posted some photos from the conversion of my AD6 from Mk to WKM but it appears I never actually did. In any case, this pic is from my CineStar 6 build and is exactly the same setup I used on the Droidworx. The distribution board is from here...

    Clunky motors!!!

Yes, each one has to be done by itself. Disconnect all the ESCs from the the WKM and plug one directly into the throttle port on the RX and then repeat the procedure you're using. Do the same for each ESC then plug them back into the WKM and I think you'll find they all start then. Ken

    Clunky motors!!!

Did you do throttle calibration on each ESC? If not you need to do that first. Also, what are the settings the ESC are programmed to? With similar motors (Avroto) I found mid or high timing to work best depending on which flight controller I was using. I'm using AXI 2814-22 with Maytech 30A...

Anyone heard from Robert at DJI USA?

Same experience here, placed an order for something on his website late yesterday got an email today that it's a special order item. Responded to his email and got a phone call a few minutes later to follow up, the ONLY dealer that has ever done that in all the time I've been flying multirotors...
