    XAircraft SuperX

I'll do my best... ;) The X arrived yesterday, most I've had a chance to do with it is open the box and have a look at the various peices, seems quite well built, the IMU in particular looks and feels very solid. One thing that surprised me a bit is the GPS puck, you could almost use it as a...

Dumb Question but it's late and I'm tired

As close to plug and play as you're going to get... http://www.dpcav.com/xcart/R-C-Controlled-On-Off-Switch.html I have a couple of them I've used for various things that I want to be able to turn on/off in flight, they work well and don't take up much room. Ken

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

If the weather cooperates and you do make it to the field I might just have an extra set of parts hanging around by then. :) Ken

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

I'm not looking to mass produce them, that would require investment in a couple more printers of a more industrial grade than what I currently have or farming it out to a production facility at which point it would wind up cloned by the Chinese and for sale at a fraction of the cost ;) I...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

The lower CG wasn't the main goal when I started the project although it was something that I certainly intended to do if possible as part of it. The main goal was to replace the DJI arms with something that could be easily and quickly repaired in the field using parts that I could obtain...

Status of the order on the website shows paid/unfulfilled, email has gone unanswered, PayPal shows the funds transferred and the transaction completed. If you have a webstore and are at all paying attention, at least one of those should be an indication that there is an order there waiting to be...

    XAircraft SuperX

OK, seven days since order placed, not shipped and no reply to attempts to contact. Slammed or not, pretty much unacceptable IMO. If I did that to any of my customers my employer would be showing me the door pretty quick. He could at least acknowledge the people that have spent money ordering...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

The tube arm Discovery finally flew for the first time at lunch today. It would have happened sooner but I had a bit of a problem with ESCs when I used a bolt that was slightly too long to secure one of the motors, shorting a winding and resulting in an ESC FET letting out the magic smoke on...

    Hoverfly Dji esc

The DJI ESCs are same thing as Turnigy Plush hardware less the BEC under the shrink wrap, just slightly modified firmware to eliminate all the programmable options since they're meant to only be used on multirotors. The DJI should work just fine with any multirotor flight controller you care to...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

Almost there... I would have test flown it already except I overlooked one small detail. I thought the ESCs had enough slack wire to not worry about the extra 1 inch arm length, wrong! After I removed the DJI arm and bolted the tube arm in place it was quickly evident that the wires...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

I just checked the weight with my digital scale and the aluminum tube arm with motor mount and inner mounting block is 10 grams lighter than a stock DJI arm. I've got some carbon fiber tube around here, tomorrow I'll try and find a similar length piece and check the weight with that. Ken

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

A standard DJI arm... The tube arm... Inside the frame... The difference in where the motor sits, might wind up having to make some adjustment here... Tomorrow I'll start swapping over the Discovery with the Multiwii flight controller. Ken

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

Motor mounts in progress... Cutting the arm tubes... Add a little bevel to the edge to get rid of any sharp edges... Now over to the mill to drill the locating holes... After one end is done, pin it in place and drill the other end... Four mounting blocks and...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

The 4 arm blocks are ready to go. I just made a few changes to the motor mount to allow the wires to run out underneath and down the arm tube so I can do a swap with minimal changes to existing Discovery that will be the testbed... The drilling fixture for the arms is being made right now...

    TBS Discovery alternative arm setup

Finally getting to the meat of a project I've been thinking about for a while, a way to use something besides DJI arms on a TBS Discovery. The other day I did a block setup for 17mm carbon fiber tubes which I'll eventually get setup on a frame and test fly. Before doing that I decided to go a...

    TBS Discovery Pro

You have no clue what I have or have not tried so maybe you should get down off your high horse and chill out. At least I don't have a vested financial interest in making people see things my way, I'm not trying to sell anything.

What Hex does everyone agree is good?

I have a few of Rustys frames, none currently flying. Thing I found about them is they're HEAVY, roughly 1 1/2 to 2X the weight of comparable frames of the same size from any of the Chinese vendors. They are good if you want to try different configurations, the basic design makes them perfect...
