The never ending progress and wheres good enough??CS 360 gimbal

I guess we'll have to agree to disagree then, after several years of working with servo driven gimbals I have to say balance is just as important on a servo drive as it is on brushless if you want it to operate optimally. Extra strong servos only mask the imbalance and ultimately use more power...

    Aeroxcraft Brushless Gopro Gimbal

I have an older Aeroxcraft servo driven GoPro gimbal still in use on an MK quad, if it's any indication of how their products are, no need to worry about quality. The servo driven gimbal has been a solid performer since day 1, I would expect no less from any of their other products. Ken

    Aeroxcraft Brushless Gopro Gimbal

A known problem with the Martinez controller board, the recent .49 beta release supposedly addresses the problem. Alexmos controller boards do not have the tilt issue they work at 90 degrees tilt. I haven't yet had a chance to test the .49 on the Martinez board, mine is on the shelf at the...

The never ending progress and wheres good enough??CS 360 gimbal

With the latest release of the Alexmos firmware you can store multiple configurations to the eprom in the controller. Land, swap cameras or lens, flip the switch on the TX to the appropriate config and fly. You can also utilize the button on the controller board to swap configs if you don't have...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

Not to worry about the Arduino processor, it's reached the limits of what it can do. Going forward there will be more and more boards based on ARM processors, 3DR is already there... http://store.3drobotics.com/products/px4fmu-1 my next build will be based on this hardware. I'd also say the...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

FYI, 3D Robotics, the company that designs and develops the APM is based in San Diego, California, also an American company... http://3drobotics.com/about-us/ Ken

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

Bart, I've been flying the H/F board on the same platform that now has the APM for the past couple weeks, I have to say even with the greater reliability and stable firmware I'm underwhelmed. It does fly well enough but I have at least 3 or 4 other flight controllers here from various...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

Right now I have an RCTimer GoPro brushless on the AD6 and I recently bought another one that I have installed on my MK hexa. Depending on how the flight tests go I may swap the small RCT gimbal for the larger Nex 5n size gimbal currently hanging under the Cinestar 6 to see how well that combo...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

I'm finally starting to get caught up on the backlog of projects I've had sitting on the shelf, this week has been designated APM week. :) First thing I did was install the "real" 3DR APM 2.5 I've had sitting around into the FlipFPV frame in place of the RCTimer version mainly to see if there...

ALEXMOS UPDATE to 2.0 - Found problems and fixes for the new software update!!

Interesting, I used Xloader to update all three of my Alexmos boards to 2.0 and it worked fine. Still says the update failed but that's a known bug in xloader and has no affect on the actual upload. Ken

Unable to select intelligent Orientation Control in the Naza Software

I've found the best method to attach the GPS pod is with Velcro rather than tape, that way its free to pop off in the event of a crash rather than getting smashed if it's firmly stuck in place. Ken

DJI ESC's (do you trust them?)

The DJI ESCs that come in the F series kits are Turnigy Plush minus the BEC under the shrinkwrap, I have a couple sets reflashed with BLHeli firmware for the 25A Plush currently in use on FPV quads, they work well with the new firmware. I've had pretty good service from the DJI motors and ESCs...

    Anyone using the Martinez board

I really like the Alexmos on the 2.0 firmware, especially now that the annoying motor squeal is gone. Haven't done nearly as much work with the Martinez board, that will change as soon as the second RCT gimbal arrives. There's only so much you can do with the same processor and driver chips, all...

    Anyone using the Martinez board

This will work... https://www.sparkfun.com/products/9717 or use one of the FTDI breakout boards with a standard USB cable. The breakout boards with jumper selectable voltage are better IMO since you can use them for both 5 and 3.3 volt applications like this one...

ZENMUSE GOPRO H3-2D Brushless Gimbal ARRIVED at Aerial Media Pros

If I knew what the price was going to be I might be tempted if it was reasonable. Then again, with the success I'm having with the current crop of brushless GoPro gimbals I doubt that I'd want to pay their asking price which is likely to be 2 to 3X what the others are going for. Yes, having it...

    Foldable and/or Backpack Rigs!

While not exactly a mini, I have one of these which does fold up nicely and fit into a backpack, plus at $80 a bargain as C/F frames go... http://www.hobbyking.com/hobbyking/store/__25437__Turnigy_Talon_Tricopter_V1_0_Carbon_Fiber_Frame.html Currently setup with a Multiwii Mega Pro board with...

    Oohhh Explain this one?!

I'm also trying to get a YUN-1 to work right with much less success. So far I've added a couple standoffs between the support arm sides to stiffen it, removed the inadequate rubber ball dampers and replaced with the same solid rubber isolators I'm using on the RCT, and flipped the roll motor...
