    Newbie Battery Help

Here's the kind of battery primer you wanted. I'm still learning from it. LiPo Basics: http://www.rchelicopterfun.com/rc-lipo-batteries.html

1 watt high power LED's for night/day orientation.

Here's the unit described by benchmark months ago: The unit appears to have a big resistor already installed. I ordered that light. Got quick response. It's been shipped. It'll be affixed to a carbon tube mounted across the rear arms facing backwards. I have an on-off switch suitable for...

Dear DJI, you've got a problem

Sounds like Graupner Germany has been shooting itself in its feet. Graupner USA website shows product in stock. What's going on?

Dear DJI, you've got a problem

Graupner props: Any interruption of manufacturing? Or distributing? What about the Graupner high end transmitters? I've considered getting a Graupner transmitter for $600.

Has anyone noticed the changes and new transmitter restrictions?

I'm going to get a ham license. Doesn't matter if it takes a year of study and effort. My understanding is that knowing Morse code isn't required anymore. If that's wrong then I'll learn Morse code. I had a toy telegraphy tapper when I was a boy. I'm going to get that license. SOS! Save...

Noobies First F450 Build is about to Begin. There are still some Serious Concerns

Hi Pete, You know I haven't even tried to calculate weights and so forth so maybe you'll have some thoughts about my setup. As for the batteries, I changed course and ordered smaller ones. I'll keep those big green LiPos in reserve for a future 550 build. Here's whats coming: 4s 4400 mAh...

1 watt high power LED's for night/day orientation.

Looks good. I'm not committed to that light that benchmark mentioned. I would still rather have a green light on the left and a red on the right. They just have to be daytime bright.

1 watt high power LED's for night/day orientation.

Make sure there's a 100 ohm resister on the positive lead. The described unit seems to come with one already installed. My imagined configuration has it mounted away from the motors. Between the two front arms. Like those craft with the yellow ping pong ball thingys. I'll have to add longer...

1 watt high power LED's for night/day orientation.

Thanks Benchmark. I just ordered that unit. I had imagined setting up navigation lights on my quad just as they exist on boats and airplanes. Green on the left and Red on the right. The Dji kits come with different colored arms and one color is supposed to signal which side is the front...

Noobies First F450 Build is about to Begin. There are still some Serious Concerns

Hi, hjls3, I bought my LiPo's from Aerial Media Pros. (AMP) They're the 4S 6600 mAh. The batt is shorter and wider than others. Its almost as wide as the top plate. So the battery strap would have to go around the whole top plate. Doesn't matter if I ought not continue with them. I can...

A couple of you wrote that you're retired already. Good. I can't as yet even though I'm older. Who other flyers are retired? I live in Morgan Hill California. Rob

Noobies First F450 Build is about to Begin. There are still some Serious Concerns

Hi to You All, I began planning my build 5 weeks ago. Today, all the major components have been collected. All separately. And chosen as best as my knowledge enabled. Here's what I have: 450 top and bottom plates Arms Screws to assemble the frame The heavy lifting conversion kit from AMP...

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Many thanks to both of you. I'm off in the right direction now especially after some more reading and after seeing some vids. Before, I was confused but now I have the confidence to proceed. Thanks again. My ESC's arrived yesterday already flashed with SimonK and I learned that one ought not...

I'm back to square one again. You and tstrike seem to be in disagreemant about whether the motor has to be connected. I don't want to stress the motor by powering it with the throttle already set to high position. The makers refer to a series of beeps. Not "squeals". I'm stumped again and...

Dear DJI, you've got a problem

kloner I ordered my Naza alone and it was delivered two weeks ago. It wasn't included in a kit. From Century Helicopter. I would think that my unit is new. At present I wouldn't know what firmware is on it. I guess I'll find out when I start messing with the Assistant program. Dunno.

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Many thanks, tstrike. Things are coming together now. My ESC's were delivered today. They came with a users manual which is much clearer than I expected. One thing had kept confusing me. Some instructions say the confirming beeps come from the motor. I was sceptical of that because why...

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Thanks, tstrike. I understand. But ... Do the ESC's each have to be connected to a motor first? And ... So I would have to calibrate and program the ESC's before soldering the ESC's to the PDB? The RX would be have to be binded but that and the Naza not yet attached to the PDB? By now you...

Liked the air so much, she wouldn't come down...

Bart this newbie builder is confused. I understand that I need to calibrate the ESC's individually. With each ESC connected to the rx. Okay so far. Now there's the rub. Most build videos on the web skip calibrating the ESC's. Let alone programming them. Build videos on the net show people...
