Flew my drone through a firework display

Atlanta Hobby denies responsibility for the Tweet and stated they are on the rule making committee and that no FAR's were broken..... Atlanta Hobby To Me Today at 1:07 PM Thanks Patrick, As a 10,000+ hour pilot and a member of the rule making committee with the FAA...

Flew my drone through a firework display

I don't think there's anything wrong with selling them, but to fail to address the responsibilities and risks to buyers and spectators at point of sale is another issue altogether. How many sellers provide any kind of operational info to buyers? Lacking knowledge and education people will fail...

Flew my drone through a firework display

Time to lean hard on Atlanta Hobby, one of the more prolific DJI retailers in the U.S. E-mails stating your dissatisfaction with their promotion of unsafe aerial activities and refusal to purchase from them in the future, along with leveraging friends and others in the hobby to do the same...

Flew my drone through a firework display

Considering that appears to have been Tweeted by one of the more prolific retailers of DJI products, Atlanta Hobby, it shows we have serious problems being generated at the large hobby retailer level as well as the end users. Might be a good time to lean all over companies like Atlanta Hobby to...

Section 333 of the FAA 2012 Airspace Modernization and reform Act of 2012

In reading through the FAA's actions of 2012, it appears that Section 333 of that act provides the means for incorporation of systems such as MR's and remotely piloted Helis that weigh less than 55lbs. An excerpt of Section 333 is provided below for review and discussion. The pertinent areas...

Can I sue DJI for not removing me from their spams?

As for any lawsuit against a Chinese company, forget it. They own too much of the world's debt so all the legal systems fear to bring any kind of suit. You'd have to go it through the World Court or the U.N. if you could find a law firm that would take it on through contingency. However, for...

Commercial sUAS petition is live at Whitehouse.gov

It's worse than that Chris. The link to the petition is posted at just about every major U.S. RC hobby forum, all the MR forums, Facebook, and other locations and all that have signed so far is 150? That makes me wonder if we'll get the traction and exposure we need. Public apathy is a...

Time for a new copter.... But which one?

If you're willing to build your own take a look at the frames on the Vulcan UAV site. The Cinestar frame is another good candidate but if the electrics are done like a stock Cinestar things get pretty crowded and difficult to service. The rotating landing gear are very nice but convert them to...

Flew my drone through a firework display

Not as dumb as having a Giant Scale 3d RC contest with a night time fireworks display with people flying RC helis and 30lb+ airplanes though the detonation zone while the fireworks are being deployed. The planes have the ability to glide into the crowd after having power knocked out or...

Question About Installing 12V LED Strips to 6S Battery on DJI F450

I agree, the BEC is the smart way to go. It separates your lights from the rest of the electrical system and much easier to install than soldering to a PDB. Build a wye to split off the main power supply to handle the BEC.

I know a few of you received these notices....

Bart, Our government through its various factions has been doing illegal things for a very long time. Not intending to be political, but the current administration makes a habit of breaking the law to get what it wants, regardless of the will of the people. In and of itself all that is bad...

So my F550 fell form the sky

FYI, as we move forward we'll have to face regulations that place full scale methods as the means for setting up systems. Solder joints are not allowed. OTH, the EC-5, when soldered correctly, is a quite robust solder joint and capable of sustaining high current if the wire is sized correctly...

3D Robotics (3DR) Iris Official Users' Thread

Don't have an Iris but do have a 3dR Quad, which uses essentially the same power system. Power is marginal flying the Quad with a Go Pro without a gimbal slung underneath the quad. Battery is moved to the top of the quad for this. Flight performance with the quad can be a little twitchy in...

3DR Iris - 30 day wait. Huge disappointment!

I don't have an Iris but I do have a 3dR RTF quad and one of the new Pixhawk X8's. I've also been responsible for the purchase of two other X8's that are currently being used for filming purposes. All of this and the following activity has occurred since ~January of this year, 2014. The 3dR...

So my F550 fell form the sky

Looks like a poor solder joint but it could have been a combination of cold solder joint, vibration, and numerous times having the wire bent at the end of the connector. Soldering is a very bad way to set up electrical systems in aircraft but that's what we have to work with at the moment. An...

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

Perhaps people thinking the rules are imminent would be more productive. Too many put off for tomorrow, or never, that which needs to be handled immediately given the opportunity.

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

Currently the petition has been posted on RC Groups, RC Universe, DIY Drones, Team Flying Circus, and posted in a private M/R professional group's discussion forum for review and signature. Those are the postings I'm aware of. Hopefully someone got to Flying Giants since I cannot go there....

Can I sue DJI for not removing me from their spams?

Doubt if you'll have much luck either legally or with DJI. Just keep identifying the e-mails as spam in your browser and eventually they all all go direct to the spam folder to get deleted with all the rest, unread and ignored.
