"Drone" found on White House lawn

"May give"? That possibility has long been surpassed. That "small" group of individuals long ago provided the FAA and DHS all the ammo they wanted as a foundation for some extremely restrictive regulations. The FAA is already positioning to write new regs applicable to all "aircraft" to side...

X8 and Contra Rotating Efficiency - A simple study

Balancing current between top and bottom and obtaining equal thrust between a coaxial motor pair requires tilting the motor pairs up to several degrees outward from the center of the frame. Doing that permits using the same size props top and bottom and increases efficiency. test data and...

"Drone" found on White House lawn

Seems if anything needs regulated it's DJI and their damned Phantom. Not to mention government employees that are not cognizant of, or feel exempt from, D.C. flight restrictions. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

"Drone" found on White House lawn

That is something already planned by the powers that be, it just hasn't been publicized yet. We past the point of being toys when long range (beyond a few hundred feet) auto pilots became vogue.

    Melting deans plug - crashed!

One can determine the current loads either mathematically or though various on board devices and sensors. For those building units for serious cinema work they have the option of setting up a bench test where calibrated equipment can be used to build a data sheet. Experimenters can, and do...

    Melting deans plug - crashed!

Once a system is set up and dialed in there's not much call for separating bullet connectors. It makes far more sense to use a single piece of heat shrink to cover the entire connector assembly from one end to the other. There's also the added benefit of assuring the connectors stay together.

    Drones and drug cartels

they've tried about everything so far. RC, ultra lights, mini submarines, semi submersibles, tunnels, magnetic boxes slapped under cars used by people that never get checked, tunnels, throwing it over the fence, and now multirotors. Their choice of airships was unfortunate. It prolly did a...

    sUAS Representation in the US

Bart, It's a dauntless task. There are many, many groups working the playing field and unfortunately many of those are funneling all their energies torwards specific tasks and interests. I attended a meeting recently that alluded that from the FAA's perspective all of us down here in the...

    Melting deans plug - crashed!

Where your supplier obtained the connectors plays a part as well. Unless obtained from a supplier that provides hard specification data you can't know an amp rating. There are so many offshore manufacturers one cannot be assured of a quality level, and some makers seriously cut corners with...

    MultiRotorForums.com vs Vendor Forums

Bart, Thank you. That policy of being open and honest to have the ability to candidly discuss user issues specific to a product is one of the things that make Multirotor Forms the best place to be. Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

I was joking;) OTOH, some very large MR's have been used in a tethered configuration. Not very good at maneuvering around a set though.

Well, over the last 10 years or so we've seen li-po's keep doing what they've been doing. We've seen the addition of Lithium Ion, A-123, LiFe, and a couple of others. To date Lithium polymer is still what works best for our needs unless you have a cord long enough to plug into a stationary...

    LED Lighting

The best reason for using a separate 3s battery for the lights is to avoid letting the smoke out. Check the lighting voltage requirements but I don't know of any that handle 6s voltage. Most are 12v. There are many BEC's on the market that can be used for reducing voltage to the lights...
