    Hoverfly Video thread

Sure, I think I run a 3.6mm lens on my FPV cam which is connected to a 1280MHz, 300mw VTx. I have two VRx on the ground with a Eagle Eyes box for diversity, one with a whip antenna and another with a tuned patch antenna. For control I use a Dx8 with a EZUHF transmitter hooked to it so I have...

Great job on the video, I can't believe you flew up between the branches on that huge tree while flying LOS, I thought for sure you were going to hit the branches. You've got some steady hands there. Too bad the FPV didn't end well, you'll be a master in no time! Paul

    Hoverfly Customer HoverflyGIMBAL demos

That was really nice video, does the camera itself have some stabilization in it? It seemed from the view looking at the gimbal that there was some extraneous gimbal movement but it never showed in the camcorder view. Very nice!

    Hoverfly Home brew

Yeah that's a really good point and a good idea. It's just that they fit so well with the nice flat heat sink against the plate... hehe :)

Here are 3 older pictures of the quad in flight. These are the original 750kv motors I had on it and it didn't have much oomph. Other than that, I think it's still pretty much all the same. Definitely more videos to come, thanks George! Paul

One of the plates in there is g10 and I do think that might be best for the bottom two plates that hold the booms. I just didn't have anymore g10... hehe :D I do think that wood absorbs vibrations a bit better so I think I would keep that very top plate that holds the camera as wood. But if...

    Hoverfly Home brew

Here are some pics of my Home Brew setup, be kind... it's fugly! But it seems to work well. Anyone with a laser cutter want to cut some wood pieces for me? I drew this up in Adobe illustrator so I have vector files if that helps? I used some rubber washers from the plumbing department to...

I'm continually amazed with the results you get not to mention the STEELY BALLZ you have flying over water! Great work!

Oh yeah I remember that one, beautiful flight Mike. Awesome scenery. I just figured this out myself but you need to put the video link inside video tags for it to be embedded in the forum page.

    Hoverfly Video thread

Cool, a new video thread. I really need to try the return to home on my big quadcopter setup, that looks cool. Here's a video from my latest FPV test flight. Home Brew quad made of wood with folding arms for easier transport. The gains seem fine for normal flight but when I really punch it...

Hoverfly Slight shudders in Manual mode but not AL?

In my Dx8 the gains are set at 15 when I use a 4s battery but I can get them up to 30 when on a 3s battery but it doesn't have the same punch as the 4s.

Hoverfly Slight shudders in Manual mode but not AL?

This is an interesting thread, thanks for the informative posts. I'm finding with my newest quads that hovering around is fine as is slow flying. But as soon as I put some punch into the throttle I get what I think you guys are describing as shudders. I've got my gain REALLY low on my new woody...

    Hoverfly Home brew

Thanks! It does feel good to be flying again after my last disaster! I do like how this woody handles and the video I get from it. Now if I could just make it better looking, I'll post pictures soon.

    Hoverfly Home brew

Thank you, I'm pretty happy with how this one turned out. To bad it's just really ugly looking since I had to use a hand dremel tool to make it. All my FPV flying is done with just the manual mode, no auto level or altitude hold. Just flying by gyros seems to give the smoothest flight...

    Hoverfly Home brew

I finally got a chance to get my little home brew quad out for a little FPV action. Of course it's in the boring open field in the middle of our neighborhood but I think it shows how well it flies. Although I do seem to have a problem with my gain. If you listen to the motors you can here an...

    Hoverfly Home brew

Haha... feel free! I guess I'm always just looking for that puuurfect body :D I started out with plans to build an "H" quad last winter but never got around too it. I was going to include folding arms as well. Then the QAV came out and I took my design in that direction only smaller with...

    Hoverfly Home brew

So I'll be the first to admit that I'm a frame ***** :D I've tried all the ones I can afford and have had mixed results. But from everything I've learned I designed my own in Adobe Illustrator and cut it out with a dremel tool. It looks like *** but the arms fold up, it's made of wood, weighs in...
