    Totaled new F450

These ships are expensive to build. I guess that's why we don't really see them on store shelves. I use Scotch 5lb mounting tape to secure my WKM components in place. I think it even absorbs some vibration. It's pretty tough and still allows you to work the unit free if you need to.

    building hexacopter with DJI WKM

I'm using the Xaircraft DIY Hexa frame with Avroto 2814/11s motors and DJI 30 amp esc (plug and play). I fly with one 3s 6000 mah battery and get a solid 5.5 minutes flight before the yellow warning light activates. Right now I'm using a Gopro camera with 2axis mount. My camera mount...

    F550 with Avrotos?

It's good that you are doing some research on what will fit. I purchased some motors that were too large for the supplied mounts on my XAircraft Hexa frame. It was easily remedied by enlarging the mount holes with a Dremel. :) A little tweak here and there to get everything to play nice.

First flight with my DJI F550 and Aeroxcraft landing gear with my new Sony Nex5n

Nice video! I have a Sony Nex 5n too. I bought it for my hexa, but I think that the weight is just too much for my setup. I'm using Avroto 2814/11s and DJI 30a esc. I think the total weight of my craft, landing gear, battery (6000 mah just over 1 pound) and motors are just too much. What's...

how do you transport your F450s?

I would like to get a pelican case for my hexa. I just need something that won't crush. I've been throwing my craft in hatchback and imobilizing it with soft gear (backpacks etcs). I do want something...professional...and safe to transport it in. You spend so much on a craft and then toss it...

    I like that!

    Is flying manual difficult?

I won't fly it in manual. I'm completely satisfied with attitude and GPS. Someone mentioned that their craft shot up into the sky because of the throttle position when they switched to manual mode. I'm using my ship to take photos and I don't want suprises. :)

lol! Yeah...flying in the house can be tricky.

    Current Firmware Question

I second that! There's a lot to be said about not fixing things that aren't broke. I would only upgrade/update the firmware if it added some really cool features or fixed a problem that I identified. My goal is just to have a craft that flies great and one that I don't feel the need to tweak.

    Interesting Z axis settings..

I noticed the same thing. I used to have my battery suspended about an inch or two below the center of gravity of the craft (not the landing gear). It flew pretty stable in the wind with the Z axis set at zero. I relocated my battery so that it's flush in contact with the bottom frame and...

don't use DJI props they snap 8"

You were pretty lucky! After takeoff I'll hover just out of ground effect to make sure everything..feels right. I'm hoping (like your video) that IF anything goes wrong that it's at an inexpensive altitude.

    DJI ESC's

I know this is late. I have DJI 30a ESCs. I like that I don't have to program them. They work fine for my Avroto 2814/11s and the weight that I'm carrying. Plus they have the 3.5mm connectors on them.

    Wookong in the Wind.

I flew my Hexa DJI WKM in gusty wind yesterday. My gains are set at 110 percent on pitch, roll, and attitude. I find that these gains work well for calm wind to days with a light breeze and or gusts. The gains have to be set higher for higher wind conditions to smoothe out the flight (less...

Before you buy, please read this

This is good advice. Hopefully people will read it. I tried Mikrokopter after seeing the videos of it's performance. I thought I would be able to assemble it without problems. What I got was a box of parts and forum link that I couldn't understand. I found DJI WKM after looking at other...

    WooKong-M GPS mounting?

I used epoxy to glue the mast to the aluminum mounts supplied. I used Scotch Mounting tape (5 pound rating) underneath the bottom aluminum mast mount and then secured it into place using screws. I was nervous about affixing the GPS/Compass unit. I took my time and made sure the the arrow on...

    Hexa odd engines warmer

I can only imagine that your craft is not balanced and it's causing the heavy side motors to work harder to keep up.

    Successful first flight!

Congrats! I had a little adrenaline flowing through my veins on my first flight. I was wondering if all of the time and money spent would pay off. :) One of my motors seemed a bit stiff too. I think it was because they were new. I have no problems though. You may notice that they spin a...

    Wookong down!

Interesting thread! I have many flights on the WK-M. Each successful flight adds confidence to the system. These stories make me think about how to fly the craft.

Line loss help (voltage calibration )

This is probably the most confusing part of assembling the WK-M. Obtaining the correct line loss for sufficient warnings is important. I don't know how many times that I've read the manual to get a better understanding of what I need to do. I think I've gotten it right for my 6000mah 3s lipos.

    F550 Twitching any ideas

I had twitching on with my yaw. The craft would drift off of heading and then self correct after a second or two. I adjusted the gains for yaw back to 100 percent and the twitching stopped.
