    New generation brushless gimbal motors

What worries me is the stress on the roll motor shaft; essentially you're hanging a weight perpendicular to the designed axis of these motors. They're designed for stress in the vertical axis (prop load), while they sit horizontally. The tilt motor usually had a bearing at the other end so...

    New generation brushless gimbal motors

Btw - Tigers website stating that they're only testing their GB2208's and production isn't guaranteed. ...unless someone here knows different...?

    Noob setup and questions...Help!

I'm running the 370mm 21.5's. Unfortunately Jakob brought out the 25mm version two weeks later (I'd have preferred those, as they have double the thrust loading). Re: the mount - ahah, ok - nice build then. I was hoping these were off the shelf :(

    Join FAG

Last meet I had, there were 3 fixed wingers already there. I turned up with the quad. Noses were looked down. Snide comments were made and ignored. 30 mins later, they were all shovelling the only remaining working parts of their very broken birds into multiple small bags and going home. I was...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

Ah, that's not what I would call "auto tuning" ^this is the "hard way" for me! Auto for me is "plug it in, press a button, it works it all out and sets the parameters, and then you fly". :)

    DX 8 telemetry

I use the DX8 telemetry after a voltage alarm gave me *seconds* of battery life, instead of minutes. My $2 alarm cost me $200 in repairs... So now I fly with realtime data on the Tx, with my alarm set to 3.6v per cell. So much less stress, I wonder why I didn't do it before. I don't miss any...

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Anyone using APM 2.5 for aerial filming?

Interesting - I've got 2 x APM 2.5+'s and don't know about the "auto tune" for PID's. You have to do it 'the hard way' (althought there is a good instruction page/video to help). Speaking of which, I need to do mine. It's further complicated that the scales for Acro mode Rates is not the same as...

    First Crash

I can find Graupner's here in Switzerland ok (reassuringly expensive too!)...it's the T-motor CF's I can't find in stock *anywhere*..:-( Re: clones - I did a comparison here on MRF last week. Haven't flown them yet, but when I do, they're going on the training mule until they can earn my...

    Noob setup and questions...Help!

I have the same quadframe "heavy" frame as tstrike and the same legs. I get around 15-20mins "non aggressive" flight on 2 x 4000 6s (which *just* fit in the battery bay of the legs) , powering 3508-29's (380kv) and 1450 CF props. I will upgrade to a single 11,000mah maxamps (lighter + more...

    Team BlackSheep arrested in Italy.

Aye, I saw this, and thought "ooh boys, you're really flying close to the wind on this one". I suspect the problems will come because they landed on private property, twice. And one was a helipad, which the Italian FAA will be having hysterics over. I suspect if they had not touched down, the...

Newb to the hobby and need advice! :D

I started like you, not long ago. It took 4 weeks before I bought a part. Those 4 weeks were spent reading the forums, understanding the technology (batteries, Rx/Tx, motors, prop angles, FC's, ESC's etc). And spent many hours doing "what ifs?" in ecalc.ch. I now have 2 birds - one heavy...

T-motor CF props vs clones - a comparison

Hi guys, I broke a prop (and an arm) last month, and have been waiting what feels like an eternity for someone to get 1450 t-motor CF props back in. Last week though, some clones came to my attention. I immediately ordered them, and below are my thoughts and observations when comparing the...

    Laurel & Hardy

Well, the build continues, but Hardy is getting a modification. His battery bay has been extended to accomodate a 11000mAh battery. This will give me more flight time, and is lighter too (1.3kg vs 1.35kg), and easier to manage than the 2 x 4000mAh it will replace. Wow...it was expensive though...

    Screeching motors

I appear to have screeching/whining from my motors: http://youtu.be/C2DSkT9s04k. I understand this can be timing related, but have no idea what this means. However, seems to loiter and fly ok? (Apart from the too-low voltage alarm which broke the legs by giving me only *seconds* to land 10...

Flexacopter -----The Making of an octocopter "KRATOS"-----

Not sure you can compare a 1450 prop to a 1460 prop; you will get more lift. Likewise 15" to 14". im intrigued by the dampening effect of the wood though. Is there any evidence of reduced vibes reaching the controller? If so, I want a set ASAP!
