Advice needed on Y6 motor redundancy

It's certainly way better than a quad losing a prop. The flight controller has a lot to do with the performance of the craft staying level and in the air. I had a flat Hexa that lost a prop and crashed. The new firmware update from DJI is designed to spin the craft to compensate for the loss...

S800 Noob with EMBARASSING Flight times WTF!

Whew! All of the advances in technology mean nothing without a good and steady power supply. My Y6 crashed when my old lipos gave up on me. At first I thought the crash was due to DJI's 2nd level voltage protection. I tested my lipos on a test quad without the voltage monitor on and got the...

High altitude F550 hexacopter crash after motors stop. Anyone know why?

I had a similar event happen. My Y6 dropped out of the sky shortly after hitting DJI's first stage voltage protection. Once it hit or indicated the second level voltage protection my craft just started falling: http://youtu.be/DaCp1USGAGM i thought that rapid descent had something to do with...

    Longer flight times

Get a lipo checker or telemetry to see the values of your batteries. Be careful when pushing or testing the limits, especially if you have Voltage protection activated (WKM) or you're using old lipos. My craft hit 2nd level voltage protection when my old lipos flatlined. It resulted in a...

newbie thinking of DJI - or is there a better co.?

DJI wins for ease of use. It is a simple system to connect. My WKM has been rock steady. Learn some of the nuisances of the system and you'll have fun. The S800 has a history of vibration trouble especially when combined with the GPS compass issue and the flip of death. I'm certain the...

    New Charger needed

I saw this Hitec charger on YouTube. It charges 4 lipos at once: http://youtu.be/4Jgtlo4Kc8Q

    Lipo explosion

Lucky. I have a heat sensor on my charger and I place the lipo in a metal pan while charging it. I had a 6000 mah lipo get punctured after a crash. I didn't see any flame, but I could not believe the amount of heat that came off of the battery.

Texas HB 912 Passes out of House. Ban image capture by Unmanned Aircraft

Drones were used in the US during the beltway sniper incidents. CNN just put this on their web site: http://security.blogs.cnn.com/2013/06/19/fbi-uses-drones-in-u-s-says-mueller/?hpt=hp_t2 One by one states started passing laws against surveillance use of drones. I think they can be...

    Y6 Builders thread

My Y6 crashed after I hit DJI's 2nd level voltage protection. I think the reduction of power combined with the difference of prop pitch and diameter caused my craft to spin. I was running Graupner 11x5 on the top and 12x6 on the bottom. This is just info to be mindful of if you run into a...

    Drifting after yawing

I had a flat Hexa, a Y6, and a quad do the similiar drifts. All of my craft would yaw to the left and then hold. Crazy huh? Check your motors. Make sure that they are level with each other. Sometimes a slight cant of a motor is enough to pull the craft off course (like from a missing...

Texas HB 912 Passes out of House. Ban image capture by Unmanned Aircraft

Fear is a big seller in the U.S. If you don't want something then all you have to do is tell people why they should be afraid. Law passed. I think a judge has to decide of there is merit for a law suit. Is a remote controlled plane/helicopter with a camera and no automated flight...

Beginner advice needed -- when transmitter loses power

I didn't have to make any changes to my radio transmitter. All of my settings were from DJI's software. I tested all modes with the props removed to see if the mode switches worked. When I turned off my transmitter the LED indicated fail safe mode. The only setting that I did have to...

Something for DJI to take notes from

pretty funny. The first time that I tried to demonstrate the RTH feature my craft went into toilet bowl mode. I didn't read the manual to figure out how to regain control. I thought to myself that I needed a bat to bring it down safely. Lol.

DJI Naza FPV Flip On Latest Firmware?

If you're a "fresh player" then you need to give it more throttle on takeoff. Don't milk it. You have to pop it up in the air and it will stabilize itself. Make sure your props are going in the correct direction. Also make sure that the little hole on the IMU is not blocked.

WKM mid-air reboot... All motors stop.

man...that's a lot of money in the air. The Zenmuse did a good job of keeping the camera steady despite your falling craft. Is your Zenmuse powered by the flight battery or its own? Do you think you were pushing max amps?? There's a sickening feeling when you watch your craft behave like...

Something for DJI to take notes from

Amazing. Do you think that this will be capable with multiple GPS receivers on a multirotor?

    Roll your own

This makes you think real hard about building. It also makes me wonder about DJI's marketing strategy. Design an "entry level" multirotor that's cheaper than one that could be built from scratch. Transmitter, receiver, flight system, battery, ESC, motors, frame, etc. all in a ready to fly...
