Microwave and Radio Transmission Towers dangerous or safe?

radio emission energy emits according to the inverse square law..... there can be an incredible amount of emi as one gets really close...... There have been issues reported on this forum of a MR RC link failure and MR crash when the MR got too close to an overhead powerline..... there was...

Advice for getting started with multi-rotor helicopters

Look for Jon Desjardin's Youtube videos on setting up a Futaba T8FG Super with the Naza controller....... you might want consider going that route (it can provide up to 14 channels)...... but the Dx6i may also be a good choice.

    Un-Commanded Loss of Altitude!!!

There could be several issues at play here...... In my case the IMU baro sensor was being spoofed by the nearby props.... especially when flying forward...the IMU was originally mounted in the top plate.... I bought the DJI-Innov S800 anti-vibe kit and relocated the IMU down below on the IMU...

    Time to learn

Fly-aways can occur with any Multirotor...... IMHO I believe the main reasons would be as follows: 1) Incorrect RC transmitter setup/configuration for the MR controller, e.g., NAZA....... 2) Multirotor vibration issues 3) Radio interference and RTH not correctly configured.

Newb to the hobby and need advice! :D

A search here and on ebay will reveal a low weight and cost effective steel wire vibration isolator for fixed mount GoPro cameras..... Servo gimbals tend to not have any vibration isolation.....but are much lighter than are the brushless gimbal systems. but also more difficult to resolve...

Newb to the hobby and need advice! :D

A very good choice..... one can even replace some of the G10 parts with home cut CF to reduce weight further. And the mini servos by Hitec are much less weight than are the brushless motors..... you can also remotely control camera pitch from the NAZA or WKM but there will be some challenges to...

End in sight for current MR designs!

In any case I am a firm believer that coax can be as efficient as single props when done correctly and possibly more efficient as was indicated by Howard Hughes aeronautical engineers back in the 40's....... and this new Sikorsky X2 claims the same....

End in sight for current MR designs!

Please confirm..... are you able to safely land your 700+ CP heli with rotors free spinning, i.e., no power to the rotors?

WKM IMU position on the vibration absorber setup

I am using... -19mm for X, 0 for y and close to 5cm for z as my batteries are on the bottom......works very well for me.....on an RCT800.

End in sight for current MR designs!

I am thinking that conventional helis can sometimes be landed safely without power by means of counter-rotation with rotor pitch negative until close to the ground.... then positive pitching the rotors just before landing...... Can't do that with a quad, Hex or Octo.... and for AV work...

End in sight for current MR designs!

From what I understand so far.... the Quad, Hex and Octocopters have more stability that do the large rotor helicopters.... in the sense that you can park them at a 3D spot in the air and focus your attention on other things such as camera gimbal control.... (although the hover can sometimes...

End in sight for current MR designs!

In some respects it seems simple especially for the 9dof IMUs. With respect to the mechanical design it might be a long way to go........if the upper rotor is powered separate from the lower rotor, two speed controllers would enable yaw control ....But roll control...

550 looking for 2 axis gimbal that will work with naza

You might also want to solicit opinions from others who have a lot more experience and knowledge ....e.g., Kloner etc. In any case DIY and modifications to an existing MR is a multidiscipline Engineering design activity that should not be taken too lightly..... to get around that I use ECalc for...

End in sight for current MR designs!

Is it possible that the following coax design could ultimately replace most current MR designs? It appears that this design would have the same degree of stability and control as current day quads, hexs, octos etc. But in addition it would have the benefit of faster forward flight and...

550 looking for 2 axis gimbal that will work with naza

I don't believe that the NAZA and WKM controllers are yet able to interface directly with any 3rd party brushless gimbal system, only the conventional servo controlled gimbals. The challenge right now is to get the weight down on these brushless gimbal controllers as the motor are significant...

S800 clean build tips and info

Chris.... Very clean layout....... looks well organized. Looks like you have a GCS datalink onboard..... is it 900Mhz or 2.4Ghz? And what is your video downlink frequency? Just wondering about compatible freqs between RC, Vid downlink and GCS..... And here is the battery...
