Two drones almost collide with NYPD chopper

Keep in mind that the FAA isn't trying to regulate the hobbyist, most of the restrictions are aimed at commercial use. I agree with what your saying, the only thing I'm pointing out is that there aren't nearly as many Phantoms out there being flown recklessly as are being claimed. Like most...

Two drones almost collide with NYPD chopper

These are all good points, most on this forum have been doing this almost since the inception of MR's, how many of you have first hand knowledge of anyone sustaining a life threatening injury? or have seen a mid air with a real airplane? I'm not saying that there aren't an army of idiots out...

    XAircraft SuperX with Y6

Thanks. Do you have a preference? I'd like to build a really stable platform for a GH4 and 3-axis gimbal. Looking at the KDE 3510XF-475, a little less expensive than the KDE 4012XF-400 but the largest recommended props is 15" but it runs on both 4S and 6S - I'm thinking I'd like to...

    XAircraft SuperX with Y6

I'm considering building either a Y6 or Hex, does anyone have any experiences and/or video you could share with either configuration. I'm planning for an AUW of about 15lbs. Thanks

Two drones almost collide with NYPD chopper

Its probably much worse than that. Problem is that no one is posting positive images with meaningful messages about MR's. But let me ask you, how is the success of an online video measured? The number of views, right? So what's accomplished by posting videos of idiots with MR's? Your...

Flew my drone through a firework display

What is it that you think I'm trolling for? You think the suggestion that we should actually do something about what's happening rather than pine about what's slipping through our hands is wrong? Has it occurred to you that what's happening isn't really about the rules or flying but about...

Flew my drone through a firework display

I'm guessing the fireworks were at about 500' and the NOTAM was for 1000' above that in case of any arrant fireworks. Your point about FPV is spot on and has nothing to do with fireworks, no FPV pilot can maintain visual separation with aircraft which is why the FAA wants to ban FPV. As a...

Flew my drone through a firework display

Seriously? First off who says you can't fly a MR above 400ft agl? You mean the 2007 Guidelines that a federal judge said didn't constitute a law and that the FAA didn't have the right to create? Secondly full size aircraft will be held at 1500ft agl. There are NOTAMS that inform the pilots...

Flew my drone through a firework display

Aircraft are not banned from flying near fireworks, not in the US anyway and obviously you've never had a flyaway, switching to manual has no effect. And I have two flyaway's worth of research.

Commercial sUAS petition is live at Whitehouse.gov

Maybe we will miraculously get 99,831 signatures in the next 19 days, lets hope we do. But if we plan on winning this war everyone should realize that the petition was simply the first of many battles yet to come and if we want to be heard then we need a strategy to go from spectator to...

Can I sue DJI for not removing me from their spams?

Actually that's not true. Colin Guinn successfully got an injunction against DJI in a Texas court and I have a friend in the garment industry who took two of his manufacturers to court and won. Actually they didn't put up much of a fight at all. In these two examples there was good cause...

Commercial sUAS petition is live at Whitehouse.gov

I think you kind of miss the point of the petition. Few people disagree with your suggestion for simple rules to live by, but that's not what's on the table. As I understand it, there have been several requests for comments regarding the "interpretation" of congresses mandate to regulate UAV's...

    Basics of UK regulations

Not sure why you think I have an axe to grind? I've been contributing with this petition process at every opportunity. As of this writing we have 124 signatures, that's pitiful. I, along with others pointed out that we are getting question from people who responded to the request to sign the...

Forbes article on FAA regulatory environment

They aren't? Its not? It is unique from the airspace in the UK, you can fly legally, we can't... At least not get paid for it.

    Basics of UK regulations

Hi Ben, have you seen, and signed the petition? Curious what you think? I'm fielding quite a few questions from people asking what is the UK standard and what I'm finding is that, first we should have sorted this out before the rush to launch the petition, but it is what it is now, and second...

Flew my drone through a firework display

You know there are generally several full sized acft flying over 4th of July fireworks displays all the time which if something went wrong has the potential for much more serious consequences than these. Most fireworks are launched over remote areas so chances are as ridiculous as this sounds...

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

I'm tired, I glanced through this, is this a condensed version of the UK rules? http://www.unmannedtech.co.uk/regulations.html

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

Do you have link to what the UK rules are? I don't know what they are, sure hope we're petitioning for the right thing. JK. People are starting to ask for the link on RCGroups as well. I think we need to link to the UK rules as well as possibly create a more concise summary. People might...

Considering MRF blastmail system to address FAA regulatory process but need your help

Its not to late for a PAC. The need for the PAC is to defend our right in court, having one 12 months ago probably wouldn't have had much effect since there's no way to get on the rules committee anyway. The time for the PAC is when you have enough members and after the FAA has made it ruling...

Can I sue DJI for not removing me from their spams?

Or you could write some hate mail and tape it to the bottom of a Phantom, that way when it "fly's-Away" home it will deliver the message back to the mothership... That won't work, it'll get lost, a prop or ESC will fail and it will never make it. Just a thought.
