Aerial Photo/Video Forums area expanding, suggestions?

Near infra red is very different from far infra red in terms of the technology required. So, far infra red is purely thermal and this is the band used to see what temperature things are at. Near infra red is more akin to normal light all be it not visible to the naked eye. For example, when you...

AR800 can't find DX8 even though successfully binded / bound.

Have you checked that you have the correct receiver type selected in the assistant software. I think you get the choice between Traditional, S-Bus and PPM. Traditional is what you need for Spektrum.

Large Lipo Battery Chargers for 6 Cell

Understood entirely. The 308 would indeed do 2x10AH batteries at 2c but that would use both ports. For me I have 2x 4010 duos as I like to have 4x charging ports. 1 for the set of batteries as they come off the aircraft, 1 for the set that is mid charge, 1 for the batteries just about to finish...

Large Lipo Battery Chargers for 6 Cell

Hadn't seen this one but looking at the specs, not sure why you think it's better. At 40A per channel the 4010 can charge a pair of 10Ah batteries at 2C which I find myself doing every now and then. To put it differently 1400w per channel on the 4010 v 800w per channel on the 308 duo. The 4010...

Large Lipo Battery Chargers for 6 Cell

The best 2 chargers out there currently are the Celpro Powerlab 8 and the iCharger 4010duo. My vote goes to the duo having used both due to its twin ports and ease of use.

    Hi From the Canadian Prairies!

Welcome. It made me chuckle when I saw the Canadian Prairie bit, especially the brutally cold comment. I have spent many a day on the prairie near Medicine Hat when I was with the Brit Army. Had some really great times there with some stunning vistas. A great place to fly multis and other...

Aerial Photo/Video Forums area expanding, suggestions?

How about expanding 'Technique, Aerial media for other applications' to Technique, Aerial Thermography and Technique Aerial Near Infra Red I see these two areas becoming pretty large over the next year or two

    European Laws

But as you say they are flying in France and not the UK- the other thing is that just because they are flying often, doesn't mean to say that it isn't illegal. Authorities are largely pretty ignorant of UAV laws at the moment so the local police may have seen these guys operating but thought it...

I've searched for an answer... Does Futaba & DJI have a SBUS problem?

Can't fault your approach there at all- you are taking well considered steps and have what looks like a good development plan so to speak. Carry on like this and you will have a successful time with these machines. All the best to you.

I've searched for an answer... Does Futaba & DJI have a SBUS problem?

Hmmm looks like I'm a bit late in replying. In short, I would say that not only is Futaba safe it is probably the safest system of the ones you have listed to use with DJI. Caveat- I have not used Futaba, only Spektrum and Jeti. The Futaba v Spektrum debate is very much on a par with Mac...

XAircraft XAircraft X650 Pro - Owners

No worries. By the way did you operate on Abrams? I was lucky enough to visit the Abrams plant when I was posted to the US and they were making all the Aussie Abrams then- a very cool day out and great machines.

XAircraft XAircraft X650 Pro - Owners

Wow, that's a bit of a feisty reply. Yes it is indeed my business about how I level my motors but the point about this forum is that we share our experiences and techniques so that we can learn from each other. I wasn't in any way shape or form saying that one techniques is wrong or right, just...

XAircraft XAircraft X650 Pro - Owners

I have tried all sorts of methods to level my motors. The most accurate one I have used was using a digital pitch gauge that is accurate down to .1 of a degree. However in reality I found this to take a very long time and it did not affect my flight in the slightest when compared to using the...

    European Laws

'But guys do not forget that this rules apply to resident companies only.' Sorry, but this is absolutely not the case. If you are caught flying for gain in the UK without the relevant quals you are in trouble. End of story.

Aerial Photo/Video Forums area expanding, suggestions?

Nice idea Bart about the expansion but I think it should go further with specific forums for things like agriculture, mapping, surveying etc. There might not be much traffic now but in 12 months time.... and so why not get ahead of the game now and ensure that people keep this Forum as the go to...

I've searched for an answer... Does Futaba & DJI have a SBUS problem?

Well if anything, DJI are moving towards a Futaba system full stop. Look at the A2. So far it hasnt worked well with Spektrum at all. Using PPM is also not good news with DJI so it would seem.

Relatively cheap hexacopter for aerial photography?

The reason the shops probably don't give you a clear picture is because there are so many variations and combination of what is out there and for what you need and it is your good self who must decide what you need. The absolute bare minimum would be (in my opinion at least): QUALIFICATION if...

    Penalized for buying early!

This is indeed buisiness and with the industry moving so fast, there are plenty of cases of being penalised for buying early- it is not just with DJI. It's a bit like when computers started to hit the high street in any real strength, you bought something on a Mon and by Fri it was already...

    Throttle curve

No need at all. Keep it linear which is what the WKM expects to see so to say. If you fly in manual then the only reason to use curves is to create a throttle response that matches your wishes.
