Anyone else have a package delayed from Hobbyking?

Similar situation here.... I have an item that supposedly shipped from HobbyKing International 28th March. Typically I am prepared to wait for about 5 weeks maximum if I can see evidence that the parcel tracking is showing progress. But in this case the parcel seems to be lost as there is no...

GoPro 3+ What video settings work best for you?

If fw 2 makes the background mush again.... I don't see how that is possible unless the new test case was not done correctly or GoPro did that with some type of built in software "feature" or elimination of a sw sharpness setting!!!

    FPV'ers are obtaining HAM licenses?

The major benefits of HAM radio license are the broader range of frequencies and transmitter power/range that are allowed: RC Pilot flying 1/4 and 1/3 scale used to opt for special RC radios in one or more of the HAM radio bands for safety reasons due to longer range and less RFI (less traffic)...

    Stability and Maneuvrability

IMHO - From what I have been reading the conventional heli can be made as stable as a Multirotor but of course is mechanically complex requiring a lot of mechanical maintenance/re-calibration etc. The Multirotor is mechanically simple but super stable but is only available in electric which is...

    Understanding PID's

In addition to MatWelli's comments, I had the pleasure of introducing Dr. Greg Shinsky at a public forum here way back around 1982. He wrote the bible on PID loop control for Industrial applications dealing with auto-reset windup, feed forward control etc. quite a genius! Once one gets beyond...

Payload as a % of AUW

In the case of fixed wing aircraft there will be some airflow towards the wing tips that results in wing tip vortices as shown here...

Payload as a % of AUW

If you look carefully at eCalc you will see a prop parameter setting at the lower right. If you lower this value in accordance with some of the newer super thin carbon fiber paddle props that are compatible with the newer pancake style motors you will obtain higher flight times in accordance...

Whats next after f550 to fly a nex?

You can upgrade your F550 to an RCTimer - RCT800. That makes it possible to increase prop diameters so that your new motor/prop combos can remain in the sweet spot for max airtime for heavier payloads. See photo example here. I was able to use it to do an entire 18 hole golf course last fall...

Payload as a % of AUW

I quick way to gain perspective visually is via an Excel Pie chart. This image shows Kloners Skyjib with two scenarios..... minimum payload and maximum payload weights. What can be most revealing also is the ratio of the camera versus the Gimbal system weight...... BGC systems tend to be a bit...

2014 - best ESC at the moment?

What i need to know now is which ESCs i can trust to work with my new Tiger MN 22 pole motors! And at what point does a motor become defined as a pancake style motor? Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

2014 - best ESC at the moment?

Yes... In any case quadrocopter usa sells a $700 pdb including 6 or 8 escs and a dedicated programming device!!!! It is for a cinestar hl arf kit designed for the DJI WKM or A2!!!! Also a mystery to me. The hercules is more than just a pdb as there are 4 escs built on to it! Sent from my...

    Understanding Lithium Polymer batteries

IR varies by manufacturer. If you measured them when new and the new readings are very close to orig.... Then no issues. And 22 milliohms sounds reasonable from my perspective.

    Lost GPS Puck Mid-Flight

I quick swipe of the base plate with acetone or even alcohol will clean the surface. Rub off remaining acetone or alcohol then apply ultra sticky tape. Hobbyshops sell it and it is very hard to remove.

    Proper ESC sizing

For a perspective on my MR - AUW.... My Cinestar8 will be lift a GH3 on a 2 to 3 axis BG. The motors will be Tiger MN4014 - 400KV. Seems I read somewhere recently on MRF or somewhere else that oversized ESCs will reduce the system efficiency, heat up and lower my total MR flight time. So...

    Another Hello from Canada

Ditto... I'm from Calgary Alberta..... Good to see you here on MRF..... a great place to find info that is hard to get elsewhere. Not sure which part of the GWN you are form but if you update your profile you can make you city location and some other details available to all if you wish. And if...

Commercial flights deemed legal... Trappy won!

The regulations on tethered airships etc. is less stringent at least here in Canada..... A neigbour has been doing aerial photo work by blimp here for years..... A tethered MR would technically fall under this less stringent category since it could not fly-away!
