    Panasonic hack

I read on here that there was a hack for the Panasonic FX580 (or similar) to enable it to do video out while it is recording - at the moment you can only view the live video feed when it's in standby, not while recording. Does anyone know where I can find this please? Thanks, Gunter.

    Simple MR design...

Your thoughts?? I just knocked this drawing up in 10 minutes at lunch time, I was lying in bed last night thinking of a new multi rotor design...sad I know! All gubbins would be housed between the 2 rings, so quite streamlined...

    Cable size??

I am now shopping for batteries and wire to make a power ring, I'm just not sure what rating the cable needs to be. I'll be running 6x 880kv motors each drawing 20A at 100% throttle. I'm thinking 2x 5000Mah 4S batteries Is 12 AWG cable suitable? I don't have any idea how the AWG relates to...

It's sad...

    Drilling my booms

I need to drill 2 locating holes in my booms, one either end, to stop them turning. These holes need to be exactly in line with each other, so that when I mount the motors, they are all vertical... Does anyone have any crazy ideas how I can get this accurate with the average workshop tools...

    This hobby doesn't come cheap!!

Maybe I'm saying what everyone else is thinking, but this hobby of ours is pricey!! I have just done a little tally of what it's going to cost to build my octo. This doesn't include a camera, camera trigger gubbins, video transmitter etc, just the basics to fly a half decent octo...scary...

    Specially made acrylic domes...

I have just sent these guys an email enquiring about acrylic domes http://www.ukplasticfabrication.co.uk/ They have a standard range of sizes which cost between £15-£20 + postage, or for an extra £25 tooling charge, they will custom make you any size dome. Flange is also no problem and it's an...

    Please explain prop pitch...

I have got to a stage where I have to select props for the heli. I am just trying to understand the theory of the prop pitch, so that I can select a good blade for the heli. I am building an octo with jdrones 880kv motors: Does a higher pitch mean that the blade is angled more, meaning faster...

    Gunters new octocopter build

I have started design and getting components to the new octo. I am building it using aluminium, and anodising it a funky colour. I have found some boom clamps from a Razor 600E tail boom costing £4.99 for a set of 4...nice and cheap. They are also the perfect size, taking a 3/4" ali tube...

    Please help with some dimensions

I'm going to start the design on my airframe tomorrow but need to confirm a couple of dimensions. 1. I plan to make an octo, with similar dimensions to the Droidworx frame. They state 820mm motor to motor overall diameter, which they say will do 12" props. Is this a good size or is there any...

    A couple of questions...

    1. I have just been checking out the DJI assistant software and wondering how it will work with the gimbal on an octo setup. In the motor mixer page, it appears there are 8 channels, with the last 2 for the gimbal control. Does this mean if you want to configure it for an octo setup, that you...

    Draganflyer X4 for sale

NOW SOLD! I have decided to put my Draganflyer X4 up for sale. I really need to upgrade to a larger helicopter with more payload capability. It has a couple of minor scuffs on the landing gear, but besides that, it is in 100% immaculate condition. It is normally sold with one battery, but I...

    Esc question...

I'm planning a hexa build and just looking at all the esc's available! Daunting for a beginner like me. Do the esc's have to be perfectly matched to the motors, or can I go for the highest amp esc I can afford? That way I could easily upgrade to motors if I need to. Maybe someone could...

And my knees go weak again - the new Droidworx airframe

They have brought out a new airframe capable of a 4kg payload  called the skyjib 8. The smaller skyjib 6 can manage 3kg. It comes with standard landing gear, or retractable:

MultiWii / NAZE / SP Racing F3 Your thoughts on Arducopter

I am planning a big build soon, thinking about Arducopter hexa, because of the horrible price of the MK gear. Arducopter have all the features that I need, for half the price...and MK want an extra £900 if I want to go commercial. The plan is to build a standard Ardu 6 rotor, then after it's...
