And my knees go weak again - the new Droidworx airframe

They have brought out a new airframe capable of a 4kg payload  called the skyjib 8. The smaller skyjib 6 can manage 3kg. It comes with standard landing gear, or retractable:

Yep - looks nice. But I have to say that I'm utterly lost in the Droidworx model range now - so many variations! What's the difference between this and the Cinema Series? I'm confused!

Also a little disappointed to see Droidworx getting into the patent-grabbing game. For a company that has established itself purely by making unoriginal, derivative designs in high quality materials, it seems a little silly.

I think this is the cinema series - they just came out with a different name. Note, they haven't announced the price yet based on the pricing of their other products, it will be a pretty penny. Could be a nice match with the dji flight controller.

I would wait on this one since they seem to have several recalls or updates for every version they release. Looks cool though!

They probably moved away from the name cinema series, since the CineStar from quadrocopter came close with its name. ME being a dyslexic started confusing them :)

Cinema Series was the name for the prototype and project. Now it is ready and has a real name: SkyJib.

I have one SkyJib 8 here and can tell you, it is a very very fine product.
It is designed for big movie cameras like Arri or RED Epic and bigger and much stronger as the AD series.
On the last picture is my first prototype, the new Plettenberg motor special developed for this model with 800 Watt and 3 kg of thrust.

If you want to carry a 7D or 5D Mark II, use the AD-8 HLE or similar.

Dirk, I assume you work for Plettenberg then?

I saw Droidworx mentions the Plettenberg 15-20 motors, but they don't appear on the Plettenberg website!

Dirk how are the plettenberg motors coming along ? Estimate when they can be ordered or more specific data can be released ?

(Edit) By the way you going to use the MK BL Crtl with them or a different solution ?

Thanks

Boris

No, I am not working for Plettenberg, but I want to have the best motor for my copter.

Yes, they are not on the Plettenberg website, because this is a special type. I have done some development and calculations for this special motor and Plettenberg build this first prototypes for me.
Next week I will have a meeting with Mr. Plettenberg and we will talk about this motor. I will give you more details about the motor and ordering information soon.

Glad to see Droidworx is still providing full and clear instructions with everything they ship ;)

Jes, I should have made it clearer, the camera mount is my own, not a supplied one from Droidworx, so Im converting a heli mount ;)

Hi Dirk , can you share your full set up with the Plettenberg motors , I would have thought BL2.0 would be borderline if they can handle a very heavy lifter 7kg mark AUW .
Geoff
Yes, I am using the MK BL-Ctrl 2.0 with heat sinks.
With 5S LiPos and 35 ampere a thrust of 3 kg is possible.
