Looks like basically the same as the Gentwire HERO. You set the camera to automatically record or start shooting on start up, and these basically switch the camera on and off.

I think he just took on more than he could chew I think, when you could get hold of him it was clear he was a well meaning guy and tried to do the right thing. He tried to issue a recall on a batch of FC1212S AHRS units for safety reasons but I believe higher powers were not in agreement.

CHDK Intervalometer script works a treat. This is really the only non-mechanical way to remote trigger as the USB is occupied for AV out, so cannot use GentwireUSB etc and have live view. best of luck with it.
