    Hard Case Ground Station

There's a panel mounted in the lid with a big hole in it. I took the back off the monitor, and use the 4 screws that held the back on, to secure the face to the panel from behind.

Lipo fire Always charge outside lesson learned.

That's a great idea. I was thinking of something like that, maybe a larger steel electrical box, and vent it into my garage which I think would be tollerable. BTW, how much coffee did you drink before filming that? ;) I've never seen Jello from a hand-held before! :D

    Hard Case Ground Station

Nope. What is the thought? I guess it might be possible to have another Tx, with an Rx in this case feeding a PPM stream to a relay which could be switched. But... This is obviously a non-walking-around solution. Sit down at a table, or stick it on a stand. I really would prefer to be...

    Hard Case Ground Station

Not finished yet, but the radio part is now functional. The best part is the 6-mode radio buttons, instead of fiddly 2 and 3 position switch combos. 6 buttons, each lit with different colours, push the button, that's your mode. I'm omitting a lot of Tx features that are not needed for modern...

    Kinda like this? :)

Hobby King Not safe to deal with

Yeah, must have spend something close to $5000 there in the past 2 years. Never had a problem worth writing about. I can't recall ever having something missing. I did actually get some freebies once. Some fancy replacement sticks for a Tx, unfortunately they don't fit what I have. I've had...

Align Treker still need a LOT of work

The only good thing about that system is that it will hold back our competitors for a while longer until they realize what they really have bought. ;) I can't believe how lagged that response was.

    SteadiDrone QU4D - Foldable GoPro 3 Quadcopter!

I dunno about this... In some cases, such as if you buy a 3DR Quad, it is very much plug and play. I just went through the process again, started from scratch, and didn't have to spend any time tuning. I just turned down the roll/pitch gain a smidge because I was running on 4S instead of 3S...

    SteadiDrone QU4D - Foldable GoPro 3 Quadcopter!

Geez, are you still going on about this? What is your sum total experience with the system? Last time you made a complaint, you hadn't used it much if at all.

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

Yes, I know why you'd want to use the smallest range possible. As I said, just worried about gimbal lock. But, if this was just a gimbal controller IMU, and it was mounted on the damped camera platform, you could probably run the range you're talking about. I've never tested that before.

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

George, you can't just drop a video with performance like that and not give us more details! Denny, I know that we don't actually want the gimbal to move faster than 5°/sec, but the reason you need more range than that is because the gyro usually has quite a bit of noise it's measurement...

    My brushless gimbal result

Since when was the pendulum style "good"? IMO, it was always just old. ;) So, where do we line up to buy this thing?

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

Somebody on Heli Freak just pointed out that video was uploaded in 2010! Probably not even shot from the Align gimbal prototype unless they took a LONG time to develop it. Yikes, this could get ugly! :highly_amused:

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

I'm totally left brain dominant. I'm only looking at the technical aspects. Way too much shake going on there. They only used a few short clips, and probably post stabilized it heavily, and they couldn't get any that weren't shaking? Geez.

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

An Align Rep posted this video on HeliFreak: I'm totally unimpressed. I assume that is with an experienced crew, and lots of post-stab, and there's still significant shake. Meh.

    Most reliable esc

I've never used them, but I hear that a lot. I also heard from one guy who had a capacitor fail, so he had to send it in for repair. It took many many weeks to get fixed. He wasn't too happy about it. So it appears they aren't 100% reliable, and then you need a spare for if something happens.

New Align 800 cameraship - Needs some work!

Ah yes, OK. Do you know if the roll axis ring is just a commercial/industrial turntable bearing? http://www.mcmaster.com/#turntables/=l7ahfs I've been looking for something like that but smaller. 3Kg by itself eh? Wow, that is pretty heavy, but if that's what it takes... I notice they...

    Brushless Gimbal Developments

Nah, if Apple made it, it would be made of glass and would break the first time you dropped it. Of course, then they would create a secondary market for rubber gimbal protectors! Maybe not a bad thing. :highly_amused:

    Most reliable esc

Did you rank something that is not in production yet, on a list of "reliable" speed controllers? What is that based on? I'm using #4, myself. Not too many flight hours yet, and I'm not really pushing 40A normally. That would only be considered "War Emergency Power" for my Octo. ;) I think...

    Brushless Gimbal Developments

Wow, this is really great, congrats to the makers of this! What with this gimbal, and the open source flight controllers really coming into their own, the closed-source guys are really in for a shake-up. It doesn't help that most of them are using construction techniques that many of us can...
