    Tarot t810 + RcTimer NEX Gimbal+ Sony RX100 = this

I disagree. This is gimbal is singly-supported, and I'm using dampers. Top speed reached 60 km/h.

Technical test of my new MR frame and gimbal

Finally have something flying and working well. I took it for it's first real test on Sunday, and this is what I got: When I looked at the footage, I was pretty happy with that. There's a tiny bit of jitter which I think is simply AlexMos tuning. And the horizon is horribly out of level...

    Australian Laws set to change

Yes, I understand how the term cognitive dissonance is meant to be used, and it is a stretch to apply it in this situation. However, the US operates as a single entity, and thus I feel it applies. This discussion is now going completely off-topic, and I don't intend to continue. But in short...

    Australian Laws set to change

There very much is cognitive dissonance. Half of the people/laws/government has a far left wing "it's not my fault" mentality, as you say. (moreso even than "left wing" Canada, we haven't even legalized pot yet!) The other half are far right wing "steal from the poor and give to the rich" and...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Yeah, I thought their company name was kinda cheeky too. But if you look at their videos, they seem to actually be pretty professional. There's another company called "CopterKids" which is another silly name, but they're actually doing really good work. I'd never call my company that, but...

    Australian Laws set to change

That's not it either. Lots of other countries have much more of that, too. The problem in the US is... it's a big giant ball of cognitive dissonance.

    Australian Laws set to change

That's actually not it at all. Lots of countries give much more responsibility to government than the US does.

Ok. But you have to admit that's a pretty good video.

Yeah right. They would never adopt a regulation they didn't create. Not Invented Here Syndrome.

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Yes, I find that completely asinine as well. I think the concept is based on the idea that full-scale pilots would take more chances in order to earn money than they would if it was just for fun. But I think the equation changes a lot with any form of RC because the pilot's own life is on not...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Yeah, I know... I'm sitting here wondering if it would be OK for me to "chase" off-road motorcycle riders. (not too close, hundred feet away, but you get the point). They're riding 30mph through the trees, you think an octocopter is a significant extra risk? How about shooting at a car rally...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Anybody else notice the Deans-to-XT60 connection wrapped in electrical tape just above the camera? What a nightmare. Deans, XT60, EC5, 4mm bullet... Anything else? What a mess!

I don't think that is quite so cut and dry. I believe that this fine was suggested, I don't know that it actually made it through the legal system nor was ever paid. Edit: Yep, all I see is that the FAA "Proposed" a $10,000 fine.

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

One thing I just realized is that this event will force the FAA to put their money where their mouth is. If they don't throw the book at these guys, then everybody will know that the FAA prohibition on commercial flights has no legitimacy. All they've done so far is issues C&D letters, but...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Be careful with that one. I remember 20 years ago, the old guys in the club used to say the same thing about ARF airplanes, and how they'd be the death of RC. How wrong they were. But generally I agree with you. Modern flight controllers are only offering the appearance of ease of use and...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Interesting stuff... "After viewing the video, experts in the field of model aviation said it appeared the remote-controlled aircraft lost its signal with the transmitter before it fell." Obviously these weren't experts in the field of MULTIROTORS! Nothing in that video made me think the Tx...

Why do you want to use a cloned board on a system such as that?

So the owner of the aircraft was not operating it, but "rented" it to somebody else. But they're not saying who due to confidentiality agreements. So we have people renting UAV's to operators with what credentials exactly? I wonder if this will finally be the event that kicks the FAA into high...

Caught on camera, multirotor crashes into crowd at Great Bull Run

Denny, I'd love to see some photos of your system and the the results it is achieving. 20 minutes flying time from a quad smaller than a Phantom, getting stable images from a camera worth using... it's a license to print money. As for D'Andrea's achievements, they are very impressive, but must...
