    CAA alllowing FPV

    I've flown a 1.2kg machine at 300m, LOS. A Trex 450 heli.

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

The complexity IS very useful. It may just not be useful for you, and that's fine. The entire system I mention will not be mandatory for basic flight. It's just an option upgrade. The biggest thing holding us back from being allowed to do long-range UAV flights, is the problem of...

    CAA alllowing FPV

Interesting. 3.5kg though, that's not a lot. Nor is 1000 feet. I can fly LOS at 1000 feet.

Impossible to balance carbon fiber props from Foxtech??

I don't think you're being overly critical, but you are fighting the establish standard. Back in the day, we all bought props with undersized bores, and you had a reamer in your toolkit, and you had to ream it out to fit the motor shaft precisely. But in today's world, that's just too much...

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

I don't know about those beacons, but I'll tell you exactly where Ardupilot is heading: Apparently transponder data from the existing commercial traffic system is already available freely and easily on the internet. So the Ground Control software guys are patching it in. You'll be able to sit...

Do you know if he lives in Canada? Looks like he travels a lot. Not sure if he was just visiting.

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

Hah, yeah, me either. After you mentioned it I just wanted to see if this was being talked about. Just searched Vancouver, and voila. :)

I did find it mentioned in the giant Phantom thread, but it's kind of lost amongst all the other stupidity.

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

Bart, yeah, but it is amazing to see the different opinions across different forums on the web. This one is definitely one of the more professional and safety oriented. Some places, people have a "Power to the people! Don't help the man, man!" reaction to this type of thing. Dude... there...

Pixhawk the new flight controller from 3DR

Well, I am, but you probably new that. ;) I've got a Pixhawk on a F450 crash test quad. And one on my Trex450ish development heli. I then have a PX4 (basically same thing) on an MSH Protos 475 stretch I developed for aerial mapping and FPV training. And another on my 600 size camera-ship...

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

I got a call back from the NTSC enforcement division, I had called to offer assistance in tracking him down. It sounds like they're well on their way to finding this guy, I think through simply following the digital breadcrumbs starting from his Youtube channel. Actually had a good discussion...

Pixhawk the new flight controller from 3DR

There is some setup, but nothing like what needs to be done for Autoquad.

3DR Iris - 30 day wait. Huge disappointment!

Ok good. I poked a couple people for you. Hopefully it works out.

Need help tracking down dangerous operator.

Ok, so you think it was done in software. Darn, because then that means we can't narrow it down to only really high end equipment. As for distance... he's only one DJI flyaway away from being in direct flight path. That flight was very clearly illegal, and very clearly risky if not outright...

Oh, and from one of his other videos, this is probably an image of the guy:

Guys, not sure if you've seen this yet, but this story is just breaking today: http://www.ctvnews.ca/canada/drone-flight-near-vancouver-airport-attracts-transport-canada-rcmp-attention-1.1788494 I'd like to help the authorities track this guy down. My initial impression is that to get that...

James, has there been any improvement in this situation yet?

    12kg AUW with 5s setup?

There really is not any direct connection between voltage levels and heat. A lot of people think that higher voltage is "just more efficient and generates less heat" but that's completely false. It's much much more complicated than that.

    Stability and Maneuvrability

I'm not sure about the fast thing... the very fastest multicopter I've seen was about 100 km/h. And it took a pretty specialized setup to do that. 100 km/h on a 600 heli is like a walk in the park. Typically MR's max out around 50 km/h. That's just getting to the sweet spot on a 500 size...

    Stability and Maneuvrability

It's impossible to answer this question simply. Used to be helicopters were more manoeverable and stable. But it's not necessarily the case anymore. A good MR can be more stable than a bad helicopter. And vice-versa.
