    Canada sUAV regulations moving forward

But that staff instruction says it only applies to UAV's over 25kg? Where's the regulations for <2 and 2<>25?

Three cheers for Bart- nice new forum!

Yep, so far I like it. Hey Bart, would you consider adding a helicopter sub-forum? They're not totally dead yet, a certain crowd have basically be chased away from other forums. Basically, anybody using them for aerial photography, UAV, drone, whatever, have nowhere to go. Sort of dovetails...

Vibration- What Do You Do To Secure The Airframe And Electronics?

The root cause of the vibration is an unbalanced standard Zenoah G29RC. I purposefully chose the worst-case condition since this is a test-bed. Also, the Helix Heli kit is made from a very poor grade of G10, I've never seen anything like it, it's about as stiff as acrylic sheet. That doesn't...

    Tiger-Motors U8 + 28x9,2 props

That just doesn't make any sense. Blades do not stall because the load is too light. It's impossible.

    8s Battery supplier?

8S will be hard to find, normally packs stop at 6S as most chargers can't charge higher voltage than that. So, you must use 2 4S packs in series.

    Align M690

Oh man, reading the thread on the other website... it's not pretty. A dog's breakfast. Some sample videos, lots of shaking going on. Seems the gimbal is undertuned. That's the best case scenario. People getting upset with Align. Worst case scenario would be that the airframe vibrates too...

Not what we need in the news

https://au.news.yahoo.com/thewest/a/25569788/drone-crashes-into-perth-house/ Look at the hole they are suggesting that drone fell through. Impossible. Something is not right about all this.

Not what we need in the news

Saw this elsewhere. Does it seem a bit implausible to anybody else? Really, breaking through a roof? The terminal velocity on a hex is not that high, maybe 100mph. How is it even possible the batteries did not ignite? There doesn't appear to be even remotely enough damage to the frame to...

    Tarot 650, What A Disappointment

Interesting. Is the whole setup really only 70g? That seems crazy light.

    Tarot 650, What A Disappointment

I use the standard gear with the flimsy plastic tubes and set screws. So far, it's actually been fine for me. I mean, it's flimsy, but the whole frame is flimsy, so no surprise there. I did have one leg twist once, but generally it's been OK.

    Align M690

Oh yeah? Can you provide more detail? If past history continues to be true, they will promise updates, but it's unlikely to ever come. After about a year, they will release a completely new system, which will come with new and different deficiencies, which will never be fixed either. Some...

Bigger props resulting in a lot more instability?

They I suggest you auto-tune it to get the controls working properly. And use Arducopter 3.2 with the new Acceleration Damping Parameters to make it fly smoother. Detuning PIDS is not what you want to do.

Bigger props resulting in a lot more instability?

Personally, I think you're on the wrong track. You should be able to go from a 10" to 11" prop without much trouble. You say it's "jerky and oversensitive", which is not the same thing as unstable. Are you saying that it's response to inputs is too "sharp". Or that it's unstable in wind? If...

    Obstacle Avoidance for MultiRotors

I started dabbling with it. It's not an easy problem to solve. Particularly when you actually take the aircraft outside. Does a Kinect work outside? I doubt it. www.youtube.com/watch?v=Uxtl2sM6RtM It's not likely that you can make a stand-alone system that can be added to any flight...

What would be your "pro" rig using gopro under 2kg?

Nice work Ferdinand. Carbon fiber honeycomb. Amazing how nobody else is using that. So it's under 2000g, with the camera and gimbal?

NTSB Court Rules on FAA vs. Pirker Appeal...18nov2014

Sounds like, you can do whatever you want, even if the FAA fines you, you'll be dead before it makes it's way through the courts, so who cares? :)

Vibration- What Do You Do To Secure The Airframe And Electronics?

Multirotors are fairly easy in this regard. As OM stated, just secure the wires, and try not to run them over the *edge* of any plates. If you do, you can stick a little heat shrink tube where the contact is, that provides a minimum of extra protection. No matter how much balancing you do, a...

What would be your "pro" rig using gopro under 2kg?

That was slightly tongue in cheek. Well, if you wanted to actually just go out and make money, now, that would be the answer. I'm am curious to see what other people come up with as I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Tarot 650, but it's too heavy.

What would be your "pro" rig using gopro under 2kg?

Depends on application, but assuming you're talking about aerial video, with a 3-axis mount, mostly hovering, under 2kg? I'd just buy a Phantom with a Zenmuse and be done with it.

Is 4S enough for a medium lifter?

Guys, the "efficiency" benefit of 6S is completely over-rated. The difference is very, very small, assuming you are using two similar batteries of equivalent mass. ie: a 4S5000 vs. a 6S3300. If you notice a significant difference, it's because something else changed.
