In our next release we have greatly improved the Autolevel. You will have the ability to vary the "aggressiveness" of autolevel. Our beta users have told us that on the smoothest setting it feels identical to MK.

Thanks for info Al. I'm pretty happy with how it flies so an improvement would be gravy at this point. Haven't been up in much wind though so I'm looking forward to seeing how much adjustment will be needed to keep it flying well in wind.

THe pics below are of the GPS/Nav board in place, and with the GPS shield I made from carbon fiber. The shield may or may not work but I wanted to give it a try as both a sun shade for the Pro board and as an RF shield for the GPS antenna. The GPS antenna masts we see a lot lately don't have much sex appeal so I wanted to try something else. There may be a ground plane benefit for the antenna but, since I really don't know what that is (where's that IBCrazy guy when you need him?), it's all pure speculation on my part!! :shame: I still have to hot-glue the antenna wire into place.

If I could just get around to finishing the plug I've been making for the dome I'd be very happy!

When you use the GPS, do you need to swap all your Rx wires to that board? I always wondered about that. Whats the point in them being there otherwise?

Oh, Bart, dont forget to plug in the GPS wire to your rx! I have looked into the future. :)

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
no, they're there for future use. you do have to add a wire from the HF Pro board to your receiver to control the GPS functions. thanks for the reminder.....doh!

Bartman,

Can you tell us more about the yellow heat shrink. Where did you get it? What brand? What's your trick for getting the lights to pop through just right? Looks awesome - well done.

Thanks!
-Ben

it didn't look like anything was going to get done tonight as I was called to go into work to replace a crewmember that called in sick. 20 minutes after getting the call I got another call that he was ok and was able to take the flight. so i went back on call and went about my business working on things and being with the family.

here are a couple of more photos, the first is an arm assembly with the wires routed and LED's installed. only the two front arms will get the LED's and yellow heat shrink. i use red LED's as they seem to contrast the best with a blue sky. i've also tried blue LED's but they just about disappeared with the blue sky above them.

the second photo shows the top of the frame with the ESC's and Hoverfly Pro board installed. i may or may not have time to continue tomorrow but all that is left to do is to double check the firmware is the latest version, go through the setup client to make sure everything is indicating correctly, and install a receiver with a satellite or two plugged in.

for props i'll be using a set of carbon fiber 13.25" props that i picked up from a friend. they're made in Europe and a good friend has a connection over there so we both were able to get a prototype set. if they're any good i may stock them if i ever can get around to setting up my web shop.

anyway, i'm done for the night. i'm trying to have this flying by the end of the week, i think i'm close.
