XAircraft XAircraft 650 ESC upgrade advice please????

Upgrading X650 V8

Hi I am in the process of upgrading my my X650 v8 value, due to issues of reliability. Of note, whilst taking the quad apart, three of eight XAircraft props showed imminent signs of failure in the hubs (please take note)..

The 'guts' of the x650 including autopilot, 1212, AHRS, motors and ESCs, I have sold on the eBay Website...

I have sourced Torxpower 2212 800rpm/v, Turnigny 30a ESCs and a WKM autopilot.

The motors have fitted in the original arms with no modification, which is brilliant. This is the V8, hence it is apparent that I am beginning to run out of space....

The ESCs do not fit under the usual ESC covers (I already new this) hence the long cables on the Torxpowers can route all the way down the booms to the main frame.

The WKM seems to fit nicely within the frame (thanks for previous photos and posts showing installation).

The tricky part.,,, where do I put 8 30amp ESCs? I have considered under the frame (next to the undercarriage). They can't fit in the frame, as it will no longer become a foldable X650. If I fit them above, on the top of the frame, they are start to get in the way of Rx, WKM etc and I have concerns the ESCs may also cause RF interference.

I don't want to attach them to each boom, as I am sure that I have OCD and want everything to be tucked away and out of sight.

I have Graupner E-Props ready to fit and this is starting to look like one expensive (don't tell the wife it's more than £20!!) conversion. I just hope that its worth it.

Has anyone else made a X650 conversion for the V8? Do you have any images or ideas?

I would be so grateful, as I am keen to get this sorted by the end of Christmas.

Richard, I have my 650 running on HFP and turnigy 12A ESC,s and stock motors and props.
I fitted all my ESC's between the two plates however the 30A wont fit.
Sure you need 30A ESC's? I went for the 12A's because the stock ones are 10A and thought I could fit them in the ESC holders. I could of, they would fit, but I dont like the feed through method of wiring the ESC/Motors. It causes chaffing of the wires from the motor shaft unless you stand off the mounts.
You could use another centre plate to specifically to mount your ESC's on, I had to improvise an additional plate to mount my HFP.

Thanks Bowley, it looks like you have a good setup. Good point about the chaffing wires. I have the wire mesh protectors, hence will be using that.

I was planning on carrying a DSLR, hence the reason for the substantial ESCs. The extra payload will require more than 12 amps, according to my (often wrong!) calculations.

I am planning on trying to have a juggle today, to see if I can get stuff to fit...

Thanks Rich,
Personally then, I would get another bottom plate and 30mm male/female standoffs, and mount the load rails on that.
