XAircraft X650v4 using DJI Naza stock kit (motors, ESC, etc)

Do the motors just screw into place or do they not fit? Thinking of upgrading to the X650 frame at some point in the future. The ESCs won't fit in the holders but I will just cable tie them on. Just wondering if the motors fit the XAircraft mounts though?

i was using the setup you mentioned earlier... but decided to upgrade the motors(dunno really if you it is) to sunnysky 2216-800. you'll need servo extension on 2 front esc's though...

Just to confirm, You want to use the DJI motors on the XAircraft frame?
If this is the case, the answer has two parts.
1. Yes, they are a direct bolt up with the correct bolt spacing.
2. You will need to buy shorter 3mm bolts to mount the motors. 3mm x 5mm. http://www3.towerhobbies.com/cgi-bin/wti0001p?&I=LXGNZ8

I tried using the stock XA bolts and the bolts cause interference with the motors. Motor would just twitch or rotate very slowly.
It wasn't until I removed the motor from the mount and tired it that & found out it was the bolts.
They did not rub, but were too close the windings and caused electrical interference.
Yours may seem to work, but I would not chance it as you would not want to loose a motors due to interference while flying.

I hope this helps.

Yep would be using the DJI motors and 30A ESC. Is there any way to run the motor wires through the arm tubes to save having all the wires outside? I assume the 30A ESC wont fit in the ESC holders.

With regards to screws for the motors, could I not just use the ones that came with the F450 instead of buying more from Towerhobbies?

Looks good. I take it you mount the ESC under the arm and cable tie it on? Also, where did you get the carbon arm to mount the GPS on? Does it come with the X650 kit?

just crashed it...:C but anyways un mount the esc with a cable tie... the gps mount is a top deck for HPI touring car. if you can purchase a pair of X-aircraft load mount (battery mount) even better since you can easily remove the GPS when transportin the quad.

Are these the battery mounts you are referring to? http://www.foxtechfpv.com/battery-mounting-plate-carbon-fiber-f3005c-p-445.html - How would you mount the GPS to them? Why do you need two? So far I have the following on the list:

1. X650v4 Frame Only
2. 2x Carbon battery mount as above
3. 2x Servo extension cable (why do you only need two though? Are two arms longer?)
4. M3x5mm screws

What do you use for a power distribution board? Does the X650 come with one?

nope... a pair of this part... http://www.foxtechfpv.com/xaircraft-frame-load-mount-p-436.html
you'll need a pair coz single piece pops out easily but if you have 2 makes a more rigid mount for the gps and easily removable when you need to bag the quad. but you may also add the battery plate you linked... makes a cleaner mount for the gps but not really necessary.
1 yes
2. nope 1 will be enough but not necessary (as mentioned above)
3. 2 servo extensions (if you can see on my second pictures) servo leads from ESC 1 and 2 goes directly from the boom to the front of the NAZA MC. the leads for ESC# 3 and 4 has to go all the way around the MC.
4. yes
5. some spares (motor mounts, arms, landing gear skids...) this quad dont take hits as tough as DJI Flamewheels -
6. might wanna also purchase a distribution board... makes soldering easier...

also add a good set of props... even with the new DJI, graupners give you more security the CF props from foxtech are also nice but bit expensive... and never use orange RX on your expensive quad...

Almost ready to buy. Just a thought about ESC lead length for the DJI ESCs - how did you make the +ve and -ve wires longer? Mine are short so not sure they will be long enough to reach a power board mounted inside the X650.

Or did you solder on connectors to the ESCs to provide power to them?

all my esc leads are of stock(dji) length... did you cut your leads before? i guess if you cut it its best to desolder it from the esc's and solder a NEW longer leads. same for my +ve/-ve they were stock lengths...

Strange. I have a F450 and the ESC +ve and -ve leads are only about 5cm long. The ESCs mount under the arm and are soldered to the board so only require a few CMs. Maybe you had a F550 so ESC leads were longer? I haven't cut anything, but the stock lead length is short.

If you look at the image here you will see what I mean. If I mounted these ESCs under the motor where the originals go, there is no way the power would reach the inside of the X650?

I'm building my first quad using the X650 frame. I bought Avroto 2814-11 700kv motors and will use the DJI NAZA M with GPS. What size props do you recommend as well as batteries? I'll be using Turnigy PLUSH 30A ESC.
