Since the Compass/GPS is sensitive to magnetic fields, is a bad idea to mount it near LIPO, ESCs and high current cables.

I know that, but I've seen a lot of FlameWheels flying with Compass/GPS mounted directly on arm or upper plate...

I've got mine temporarily mounted right on top center of the top plate of my S800 and I've been surprised at how well it works. I've got it on a velcro pad so I can break everything down and stow in the carrying case. I understand the concern for interference but so far I've not experienced any problems. I'll probably rig up some sort of removable mast eventually but, for what it's worth, on top of the plate is working for me.
