Which is faster? A race prep'd 250 or 450.

Whenever I see a racing video where there is no spec (aka mix of sizes/machines/etc) it seems the 250's always beat the 450's. But is it due to the size, setup or the skill?

I did a shoot out video comparing two "typical" race setups on a 250 and 450.
250: 2204 2300kv/3s/6x4.5
450: 2212 1400kv/4s/8x5

Same pilot and FC.

First was a simple straight speed run and the second was an agility course.

Based on other vids on youtube, you would expect the 250 to easily beat the 450.

It's a little unfair to compare one with 4s and one with 3s. Everything about the mini quad (i.e. lighter weight, smaller motor to motor distance, higher thrust to weight ratio, higher kv motor, smaller prop) means it will win every time when you compare them fairly.

4s vs 3s... more lift. Alot more.

Yes it's kind of rigged. Now if you make them the same and it comes down to frame alone then it comes down to weight. Put a smaller lipo on it have less flight time but it makes it allot faster. The downside with low weight is the wind can really blow it around.

Y'all can say it's an unfair test, and some degree, yes I agree the 4S will clean up with the 3S setup.
So, I propose a way of getting this down!
What say you fly them both FPV through a rotorcross course....
That should sort it, and if not, it'll certainly be fun to watch
