What would be your "pro" rig using gopro under 2kg?

I know gopro and "pro" don't necessarily go together when talking aerial photography but let's say you had to build a rig under 2kg to have the best possible flight times, smoothness etc. what would you build?

I'm thinking maybe a tbs discovery with kloner arms. Naza, iosd, datalink, t motors or kde. Possible dual batteries if I could squeeze them in and under 2kg. What gimbal? Zenmuse under the front belly or 2 axis tbs?

Depends on application, but assuming you're talking about aerial video, with a 3-axis mount, mostly hovering, under 2kg? I'd just buy a Phantom with a Zenmuse and be done with it.

what is the basis for the 2kg weight limit?

Buddy, that's not very fun. Lol. I need a winter project. I am one of those guys that needs a project all the time. It's a sickness.

That was slightly tongue in cheek. Well, if you wanted to actually just go out and make money, now, that would be the answer.

I'm am curious to see what other people come up with as I'm in the same boat as you. I have a Tarot 650, but it's too heavy.

I'm all over the map. Like a split personality. I want to build a GH-4 rig. I want another gopro rig. Guys that are like me understand. There is a void in my life that is filled by building stuff. My house is totally renovated. When the kids go to bed I'm bored. Lol.

thats a good deal with all those items...the zen 3d alone is 379$ keep in mind. daniel may i ask where you got that zen3 d adapter not the "official" one but the one you have on the disco in the picture.

I'd go with the standard Discovery and put a H3-3D gimbal under it - works much better than the disco pro

i bought the Zenmuse from gothelirc, and the adaptors from HELIPAL...

Nice work Ferdinand. Carbon fiber honeycomb. Amazing how nobody else is using that. So it's under 2000g, with the camera and gimbal?

I can understand why the hollow core panels are not widely used. They are harder to cut and the edge cannot be dressed up as cleanly. It you put a fastener thru it could potentially compress the top and bottom layer etc and its probably not a huge savings in weight when you compare it to a solid panel of equal stiffness. Maybe 20-30%? It would definitely be an advantage if you were say 2020 grams vs 1995..but in most cases it wouldn't make a difference. I'm not knocking Ferdinand here. He did a great job. Just having a discussion more or less. cheers

You can easily twist a 20x20 cm CF-plate with 1mm with your hands, you cannot twist a 20x20cm piece of those wafers. The wafers have even less weight than 1mm CF-Plates (it is reinforced with 0,3mm CF on top and bottom). So especially for folding frames like showed above you get a lot stiffer frames. Similar stiffness with standard CF-plates would need vertical reinforcements (forming a box) like done on the "Black Snapper" or the "Black Manta".

Please note, that I never claimed, that this is the way frames should be done, it is just what I do.
