What do you use your copter for, pleasure, business?

Total newbie here and I don't own a drone, yet. Although the DJI Phantom Vision 2 is pretty appealing! Before I make this purchase I am curious as to how others use these. For me, it would be 100% pleasure and just toying around, taking pics and videos.

Do you guys fly often? Bore of them easily? I am very intrigued by the idea of pics and videos but wonder will this become boring?

So I figured I would ask how you guys use your copters and how often.

I use it every sunny day. It is my full time job and just gets better and better. The hard part has been searching for interesting things to film. At first you have no idea how to find these things, but then after a while the cool stuff finds you.

I think you'll get very minor variations to the comment above from most people. After all, if you didn't enjoy it as a hobby, it's unlikely you'd be frequenting sites like this. As many people get into this as a business then begin flying recreationally because they enjoy it as those who get into it recreationally as a hobby and turn it into a business.

The surge in interest has come about because of vast increases in ability and capability. In it's infancy a few years ago, you would likely only find die-hard hobbyists involved; multi's were finicky money pits that didn't fly terribly well. Now, almost anyone can get one in the air the first try and keep it there, plus the ability to take photos and video and fly pre-determined missions semi autonomously, the lines blur between hobby and serious applications.

Almost anything looks amazingly different from an aerial perspective. I remember not that long ago seeing photos of a landfill, not normally something attractive enough to take a photo, become a fascinating piece of abstract art, photographed at 200 ft.

Hang onto your wallet and jump in with both feet. You'll enjoy it a great deal.

Strictly pleasure and enjoy building as much as flying.
Started with an MQX and now have 7, (Was up to 10 at one point)
As you see the results of my progression I find I challenge myself to find even more interesting subjects to video.
I like the travelog type of videos and while Florida is short on mountains, it has lost of shoreline and swamps.
I have used it to "safely" video events from overhead in exchange for a donation to charity. Safely being from the perimeter only,
I know that'll probably drive the "professional" rate setter guys wild but I have no intention of taunting the Feds so this very minimal and low key.

It's fun but I find I do have a habit of trading off hobbies when I find another to be more interesting.
i.e. I had about 25 RC planes at one time and I bought a Harley and did some cross country riding.
The planes were consigned to the hobby shop. I still have the Harley.
Collected model steam engines for a few years. Had over 75 and thousands invested. I discovered Quads.
It was then, "Hello eBay" for the Steamers.

I fly between 1-2 times a week but depending on my schedule maybe more, maybe less.
Weather is a big deciding factor. Here it is perfect 25% of the time, marginal another 25%, minimal yet another 25% and impossible the rest of the time.

Have fun whatever you do. Start slow with a cheap little MQX or similar and soon you'll be overspending like the rest of us.
