How much can I expect to shell out for a FPV system? I know it depends on how far i want it to go and some other things, but im talking just a decent beginner platform?

I was eyeballing this : http://hobbywireless.com/index.php?main_page=product_info&cPath=117_88_92&products_id=918

Would this get me up and running? and if so would you recommend this kit?

Also, I just bought a DJI Phantom today so it should be arriving Friday. That's what I plan on using for FPV.

that would get you going. the only problem with it is it's alot like learning to ride a bike the first time on a uni cycle flying under goggles. it's just harder.

i'd rather use a 7-10" monitor, immersion uno 5.8, immersion 5.8 600mw, and a hero live feed

if there hard to find it's because it works....

So I'm a little confused now after seeing those links. If I bought one of each of those, I would then only need a camera and I would be up and flying FPV? Do they come with all necessary cables and wires for hookup ?

if you need a seperate cam i'd look at securitycam2000.com and check out pz0512..... there free ship and my last couple came from the states so it took 2 days to get it

but, a little rig isn't gonna like a whole bunch of weight on it's back. if this was mine id get the hero live feed cable and use that as your cam till you feel an absolute need for a seperate camera.

My ultimate goal is to be able to fly FPV and take aerial still photos, so to do that I would have no choice but to have 2 cameras right?

most cameras can't live feed and take still without interfering with your view. i do it, but i wouldn't recomend it till you can deal with the system

hres a video off a discovery with the 2.4 version of gear i listed above
<a href="http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=0MNzPmuLECY" target="_blank">

but the part that sucks is you can't see the exact framing the recording cam sees

but it's a crappy picture,looks like this

and when your in picture mode, it freezes the picture every second for a few seconds

heres a 5.8 video feed using hero live feed

You're most likely going to run into a little problem there, apparently the DJI radio doesn't play nice with any kind of onboard transmitter. DJI has actually issued a statement to the effect of do not use a Phantom with a "WiFi" on board due to the potential for radio interference. That's not say it can't be done, you'll just have to yank out the DJI receiver and install a better receiver which will also require the matching transmitter.

If DJI is saying don't do it, I wouldn't even try, they're not the type of company to issue a statement like that unless it's already happened and caused problems.

Here's the English text of the email I received from DJI on March 7 regarding the problem, not very articulate or informational but it gets the point across...

"Dear DJI dealers and customers,

Please Do Not fly the phantom with any WiFi devices together, because WiFi can probably interfere the radio signal of Phantom, and affect the flight!"

are you sure that wasn't aimed at the wifi feature of the hero? the radio is 2.4, the wifi is usually 2.4......radio doesn't frequency hop like the real ones. i'd check, but the 5.8 should be fine.....
