Going into partnership with a fellow professional photographer, after months of interesting research and some fantastic customer service from Alex @ UAVshop.co.uk we decided on the Vulcan Mantis.

The Build was very straightforward (we are both CP heli pilots) and the setting up of the WKM was a breeze, opting for Firmware v5.20 on Alex's recommendations

Very straightforward, although if I was building it again, then I would have positioned the ESC power wires to the arms a little more when soldering the PDB

The spec:

Vulcan Multiframe 'Mantis' 1080
Tiger MN 4014 Motors
GemFan 14x4.7 props
Maytech Harrier Supreme 40A ESC
DJI Wookong

Big thankyou to Alex again. If you are window shopping for a multi-rotor, give him a call first.

Thanks for posting this. How does it fly? We've got a Vulcan and we're very happy with it. We are considering adding the Mantis arms. Thoughts?

Thanks!

all the best,
Ben

Hi Ben

Flies like a dream, I have photos and video which I will post very soon. As I am used to flying CP heli's, the GPS is fantastic and will be useful when we build and attach the gimbal (Cinestar 3). At the mo we are getting 18 mins on 2 Optipower 5000mah lipos. That will half when we fit the Cinestar and 5D III.

Orientation is very good too with the raised arms, although when fully set-up we will add navigation LED's

Cheers

Ian

Hi
I just received the delivery of an Octo Mantis and I am very exited and looking forward to assembling the airframe. Can you please elaborate more on the above comment "I would have positioned the ESC power wires to the arms a little more when soldering the PDB" I am struggling to see what you mean and looking forward to any dos and don'ts !

Thank you
