Vertical scrolling on Sony nex5 to monitor

Hey folks. I have been setting up a system for viewing the output from my sony nex5n on a ground monitor. The system consists of the sony (NTSC), an HDMI to SD converter (bought used, not sure of brand - typical HDMI in and servo out), immersionRC VTX, immersionRC uno and a RMRC 8" monitor.

The image on the monitor is vertically scrolling, but I can see the OSD and image behind the scroll. I was able to get it to stop if I change the monitor internal settings to NTSC B&W or one of the PAL settings.

Any idea what might cause this to happen, or why switching settings would correct it? Obviously I can deal with the switch - since it's only for framing shots, but it's baffling to me.

Thanks

There are two type of those converters I think, and only some are compatible with the NTSC Nex's....

The scrolling sounds like what you get with an NTSC source and PAL on the monitor.

Thanks Min.

I bought it used from a guy who was using it with the sony nex - and he was in the USA - so I assumed it would be correct. The monitor is working "correctly" if it is set to NTSC black and white, or pal something or other (there are about 6 choices on this monitor). On standard NTSC color setting, no dice. That's the part that baffles me....

The immersion should be signal neutral - it will just output what it inputs. Is it your OSD maybe? I don't know if you can switch between Pal and NTSC on that?

No osd on this. Just the display from the sony, which does show through the system. I'm going to have the camera off the gimbal in a bit. I may try a different HDMI cable to see if that effects it.
