Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Been through all the brands you guys are talking about. Started with the std Turnigy batteries and I'm still using the ones I originally bought early last year. THen tried Gens Ace and I'm still using those as well but they never seem to be in stock at hobbypartz.com so I tried other brands. Zippy packs don't make anywhere near the rated amps when they get warm. Over 90 deg F outside temp and I'd bet they don't make even 15C. The 5000mah and 6000 mah Nano-tech packs that I have make full power to their dying end it seems. I've over-discharged the 5000 mah packs and they puffed a bit but they also seemed to un-puff as they cooled off. The 6000mah nano-techs are my pack-of-choice at the moment as they are lighter than std. Turnigy packs and they go to 6000 mah.
I'd love to try the Max-Amps 11,000 packs as they seem to offer about a 250g advantage over two 5500 packs but I can't spend that much money on battery packs, so nano-tech it is. I wish the Zippy's were better because I have the lift to carry two of the 8400 packs but if they're crap, they're crap.
Slower charge rates and waiting for packs to cool way down before charging seems to be the key to keeping them happy. Who'd have thought though that my original 5000 mah Turnigy packs would still be going after all these flights?
