Looking at the site, the prices are exceptionally high. You could buy a P3 Pro for the price of three shots. Also the shots all look graded, which is not what 90% of people buying stock footage would like.
Just my $.02
Hi and thanks for your feedback. Yes our prices are in the super premium range, but all those sequences are shot in exotic locations that are not cheap to get to. Those are the exact kind of sequences our customers are looking for. Naturally, we have flexibility on pricing as well.
Yes, you could buy a P3 Pro for the price of 3 shots, but one thing you cannot do for that price is send a crew and equipment to any of these locations over a number of days for shooting.
As an example, yesterday we sold 8 clips to a French TV company doing a documentary on Bali. We agreed on $500/clip which for them was a complete bargain as opposed to sending a crew from France to go shoot these sequences. So it was a win-win situation for all parties involved. So it's all a question of perspective. Expensive for you as an individual, but cheap for most of our customers.
As for the grading, yes you are right. The preview files are graded, but not the full resolution files. I agree that most customers will want to buy the ungraded full resolution files, but the preview files are meant to be used as sales tools for promotion purposes. People in sales will know that how you market yourself is critical (appearance, how you dress, etc). Same concept here, applied to video footage. People looking at footage will automatically believe that graded shot are of better quality or were made with better equipment. So what we want here is for our sellers to maximise their chances of impressing customers with their footage.
If you have some good footage from exotic destinations you would like to submit, please do feel free. Also happy to hear more feedback on the overall user experience.
Cheers
Patrice
