Tarot 680 altitude test

I was testing my 680MM this morning in altitude hold and finally I think I have gotten it to hold. But the bad news is I had one motor that lagged and on motor and esc that got really really hot and this was after testing on an 8 minute flight. Temp was bad enough that I could not keep my hand on the esc or motor at all hardly. After that motor cooled on the bench I jumped it with another esc and it still ran hot. I'm running DYS BE4108-580Kv motors with DYS 40Amp opto esc's. Using (2) 6S 3300Mah batteries in parallel. So going by the heat of the motor and esc I think it would be best just to order another motor and esc.

What size props?

Your over propped.:) You would need to change to 4S or smaller props. Motors will be more efficient running a 4S.

Why am I over propped? When I can run 6S batteries and up to a 13 inch prop.

Does not really matter now because I have torn the Tarot 680 down and moved every thing over to a 650 quad.

After motor break down I had a bearing to freeze up and another bearing that was close to doing the same thing. Causing the motor/esc to draw more amps thus burning the motor/esc up but not from being "Over propped"

That's why your bearings/esc's are failing from heat. I run a similar motor, (515kv) and there is know way those motors of yours will ever handle anything remotely close to 800 watts and 35+ amps at 100% running a 6S.:)
