Sport Pilot License

Why hasn't there been any discussion about only a Sport Pilot license vs. a Private Pilot? Sport requires less training, is VFR only and requires a driver's license vs 3rd class medical.

A sport pilot can command a plane up to 1320 lbs, go to 2,000 ft AGL and take a passenger. But FAA wants more to fly a Phantom? Night solo flights? Long distance solo? Really???

Push for Sport Pilot, or some iteration thereof. It makes more sense!

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
i actually believe that no pilot license should be required but that a certain number of topics should be required learning and that a new sUAS pilot should have to fly maybe three to five hours with an instructor covering certain maneuvers and topics that will help an sUAS pilot to better understand the manned aircraft environment.

but that's just my opinion.

I agree and we have a whole crew of guys including lawyers, low flying Helicopter pilot/FAA certified rotor/fixed wing instructor and several other FAA people working towards this goal. Will we succeed? No one knows, but we are going to try!!

Best advice I have heard... work within the system and modify it for your needs, don’t try to go against it.

at least people are trying. I agree with no license needed. I've stated before that I am a pilot and there is really nothing that I have learned to taught that a sUAS pilot will need. now, flying close to airports, yes. 2 completely different skill sets. but hey, we're the little fish swimming among sharks. hell, I shoot aerial video and pictures all day long on the weekends. granted it's at 120 plus mph going straight down. ha!
