Skyjib X4 TI Red Dragon & Alexa Mini

Hi all,

It's now been 6 months since the Skyjib X4 came in to bizz.
I've been successfully flying it with a gremsy H6 and Canon 5DMarkIII / Sony A7 etc, AUW up to 11,5kg for around 7 min with 2x8000 6s batts.
I have recently been in touch with some of the bigger companies and planing to make an upgrade that can handle an Alexa mini or RED Dragon.
Current rig:
T.motor 4014-9 400kv
15x5 Tprops
40A Tesc.
A2 controller.

Just starting to look around and not really in a hurry, but it would be great to hear any combo suggestions .
Best Regards

I fly the same rig set up but with a thermal camera and WKM controller. Get 8 mins very safe flight times. Also have another rig with canon 5D mk 2, but with 16 inch props and 10k S6 25c batteries and A2 controller. Getting 10 safe mins. Like them both and work well in tough conditions / high winds. Rock solid.

Sounds good Adrian, would you share your A2 gains ? I'm around 190-190-175
Is anybody flying an 16-17kg AUW Skyjib or U7v2 succesfully?

Regards

Hi Adrian. I might be wrong here but your settings look wrong. Firstly there is not offset for either the GPS or IMU. You would expect at least a 1cm difference in the Z axis unless you have merged them into one unit! Also those gains look very low which can be a dangerous thing in certain conditions. I have built all sorts of rigs and 150 for pitch and roll is the lowest I have gone. My current rig which is using 18 inch props on KDE 5215s is set at 190 (although you would expect higher gains for the larger power train).

I bought this RTF from a Uk agent and it flys fine. However I will go through in fine detail the settings now you have brought this to my attention before flying again. Safety first always. The other same outfit I fly has the WKM flight controller and the gain settings are much higher but cannot remember the precice figures so will check these tomorrow at work.
Thanks for the heads up.
Adrian.

Quite shocked to find the GPS location settings were not entered correctly. The IMU settings are ok (dead centre). I just don't know why I did not see this sooner. I will be speaking on the phone to the UK builder / supplier in London tomorrow about this. Once again thanks for the heads up although it has been flying brilliantly so far which indicates the A2 settings are not as critical as they are made out to be. but it must have been working overtime to compensate. Regarding the gains I am going to increase the basic gains from 100 to 130 and see what it flys like and then keep increasing these by 10 ish until it shows over compensation and then back them off. With the Attitude gains which are at 100. I believe these function like expos and will lower these to give it a more softer feel on the sticks. And then keep tweaking until I am happy.

The attitude gains are basically just how it reacts to your stick inputs or as you say a bit like expo so it is a very personal thing. You can go low or high with these. Low means it reacts less aggressively. I fly around 130 with these but that's just how I like it.

Oh and if this is how the agent sold you the machine, they need a stern word. The A2 and Wookong don't necessarily need a dead accurate off set put in but this, coupled with low gains is a recipe for a major crash when you least need it.

Big thank you for your expertise. That's what forums are about.
Adrian.
