I have been wanting to get a SJ4X Lite for some time but been waiting for the new Brushless Gimbals to emerge from the rather odd marketing machine at Photohigher.
I have seen the price, got up from the floor, cleaned up the spat out coffee and gone back to the idea of a Zenmuse and a change in camera system to the GH2/3.

Now ready to press the button on a SJ4, But should i order it in the UK or direct from NZ, will i get walloped for Import duty and VAT if i go the NZ Route and would i get better tech support from the UK authorised dealer if i buy in the UK???

Your advice and experiences appreciated.

Thanks

I dont know what UK taxes and customs are but i can say that we pay 20% taxes and 7.5% customs almost always. Plus the downside off shiping and waiting and all. I even got some clients that say that it was more expensive at the end than if they baught it in our shop.

I would second what Red has to say, I have dealt with both UK dealers and Droidworx direct... I would only order direct from now on....

Novalee at DW will keep you updated at all times - 3 day FedEx to the UK is fast enough!

I'm UK based and firstly must say that Droidworx gear is awesome and I would highly recommend their products wherever you get them.

In my experience, Kopterworx offer unbelievable service in Europe. I've waited about a month for stuff to come from NZ via a "leading" UK MR supplier but I've actually ordered things from Kopterworx that have arrived the following day.
I've never had cause for any tech support from Droidworx - I think they engineer and manufacture their frames extremely well and what they make works.
However Photohigher .................. Run fast and far! They take your money, sell awfully engineered products with absolutely no support. I've had a world of pain from PH gear over the last year.

Bought u/c upgrade direct from NZ earlier this year. Quickest way of getting the bits, otherwise you have to wait for a dealer to place their next order if they don't have exactly what you want.
Had to pay shipping across half the world, then 5% duty plus 20% VAT ..... but DW were generous with their declared value so it ended up about the same price as buying in the UK.

Thanks to all for the replies and advice... It is very useful to know i will need to factor in around 25% if i buy direct, DW do seem well geared up in terms of their web presence and only read good things about their kit so i am leaning heavily towards a direct buy ( i have a credit card and i ain,t afraid to use it) Pretty much settled on WK-M and Zenmuse and thinking T-Motor Navigator series, i will have to look into the Herkules III reading a lot of positives but a bit stuck on my lack of German language, Looks like a neat space/weight solution but would like to understand how they avoid a single point of failure on a 4 in 1 product.

It is a shame the UK dealers dont hold more stock but i guess since DW reverted to selling direct there is not enough incentive to hold thousands of pounds worth of kit. DW CS is one of the best for sure and as far as technical goes there is the forum here to help out when its OOH at DW so I guess its down to personal preference.

Cant really comment on Hurkules boards or T motors but my set up flies lovely with out the expense of the hurkules
