Sky hero spy or spyder ?

Hello, I've been looking into getting one of the above, does one perform better in winder conditions than the other? Also what are the advantages in say the spyder of 4 verses 8 motors, obviously 8 has greater payload capability but are there any others ?

Thanks in advance

If you only have 4 motors and one fails, it will fall out of the sky. If you have 8 motors and one fails, you have a good chance of making a safe landing.

Thanks for the reply SoCal, yes someone mention the extra security. Does 8 over 4 provide extra stability? What are the advantages of a quad over a Y shape multirotor

Never flown a Y6 but yeah coax is far more stable in wind, I think Y6 is best then X8 for stability and like SoCal says 8 is best for redundancy followed by Y6 depending on weight and quad...forget redundancy

Thanks Bowley, so the Y6 would be more stable than the spyder x8, my only concern with the Y6 is orientation, I think it may be hard to orientate the Y6 shape.

With the distinctive assymetrical shape of the Spyder you shouldn't have a problem with orientation.
I'm sure someone will chime in with an answer to whether Y6 is more stable than a X8. I would have guessed that with less rotor area to be affected the Y6 would be more stable. I have heard positive reports about Y6 by users in the UK which is nearly always windy.

the stabelest video's i ever seen on a 2 axis gimbals have come from a y6 shape. very little yaw wiggle if any at all, stable in wind..very good. only reason i see going with anything more is if your lifting more weight. one thing to be careful of is with the y6 there is an issue getting the props out of view when cam is level. you would need to push the cam forward more, hang it lower, tilt it lower, or use smaller props or longer lens.--something to consider.
