We recently completely rebuilt our ground stations going from two 10" monitors in separate boxes to a consolidated two 8" monitors in a single box. We used the Foxtech FPV monitors. http://www.foxtechfpv.com/foxtech-m800-8-monitor-p-644.html I'm a critic and we've gone through tons of monitors with our jib/dolly rigs so I was prepared to hate these at only 100 bucks. To my surprise I have absolutely ZERO complaints, one tiny nitpick and it exceeded my expectations in other areas as well!!
Here is what I like;
Monitors showed up VERY fast - Ligthing shipping via DHL to the Middle East?!?! Unheard of.. Well done!
No blue screen!!
Bright enough to work outside! Comes with very nice sunshade and I have an extra long Amazon Computer notebook sunshade that I can jam in that shades at least 3/4 monitors any time of the day. Thats enough to go to work. The monitor is 450 (nit-cd/m same thing) and is very bright.
Monitors have a matte finish on the screen! - no glare
Both monitors fit PERFECTLY side by side in the Bolton Pelican style box with just enough room for the sunshade. This allows the Pilot to see the Camera view without taking eyes off Pilot monitor and we work better together.
Push to power on!! I love this feature! When you power on, the monitor power button goes orange and the monitor is in standby, if you need the monitor simply press the power button to green and viola. We fly multiple freqs and one man and dual man operations. Sometimes we use one monitor, sometimes two but this way we're only actively drawing screen power from the screens were using extending battery life. This is awesome and wholly unexpected!
My one tiny nitpick? If the monitor AV cables were an inch or two longer it would have allowed them to be laced into the bottom of the case with the rest of the cables. Pretty nitpicky
We use Immersion RC Duos for the 2.4 and 5.8 rigs - Paired with Fatshark Dominator goggles.
Immersion is never in stock, grab it when you can. We also have a small non diversity Lawmate 2.4 which we'll be adding and we use standard Hobby King type receivers x 2 for 1.3.
All the cables have sma coax extensions with little rubber duckies for transport and we use good old clamps to lightstand plugs through the lid to mount the antennas of choice. We've got a long quick release plate through the bottom to a laptop tray which allows a snap on/snap off from the Sachtler head and sticks.
