I thought that I would start a new thread based on sharing gains on WK-m controlled Droidworx airframes

It seems a question that is often asked but not answered.

Now I know everybody's rig will differ but it would be good to have the info in one place...

So here goes...
Ref: Maiden flight
Airframe: Skyjib X4 Heavy
Motors: T-motor 3515-400
Batteries: 6s
Props: T-motor 15 x 5.5 Carbon
Test Weight: 7.1kg (without gimbal)
Attitude: 70
Yaw: 150
Altitude: 150
Gyro: 170

This is always a difficult one because craft vary so much along with weights.

My SJLX4 for example has gains in the 200's with a 550D under her but with a 5D she is down round the 100 mark. In wind with both weights I again I adjust so I don't have fixed gains. I use a rotary dial with min max limits set is so I just tweak on the fly. The initial tuning I do on each access then set limits into the channel so I cant go over the highest gains or below the lower ones.

On My Y6 they are pretty constant and I dont need to tune her reallt as she always flies a CX730 and 2x50004cell packs so weight never changes. I think it tuning for different weights and conditions is more for the larger craft where loads can be different and wind shear has more affect.

hI Steve ,

I am finally ready for my first flight ! I have just 1 question related to this thread. I am going to start the test with a weight of 1kg under the machine. What would you recommend me to set the gains to for this test ? Here are the details :

Airframe: Skyjib X4
Motors: T-motor MN 4014
Batteries: 6s
Props: T-motor 15 x 5.5 Carbon
Test Weight: 7.66kg (including 1kg weight)

I know that it has to be adjusted after but I would like a sort of medium setting. If you are around and can answer tonight that would be great as tomorrow is the big day!!

Hi Gary, I would go with:

Attitude: 70

Yaw: 150

Altitude: 150

Gyro: 170

It's a good place to start, my gain settings are within 5 points of these after much testing...

Best of luck with the maiden

Have you programmed any expo and Dual Rate into your transmitter? I like to work with 40% expo & 75% dual rate, really helps the flight characteristics..

Hi Steve,

Thank you for those figures. I keep hearing about the expo and dual rate but I must admit I don't know much about this. I think I know where to do it but not sure how. Do you know how to do this on Futuba?

Any advice would be apreciated. What is does this do?

Hi Steve,

Could I jump in with a question? You mention gyro and altitude in your gains setup but these are different to the variable listed in the Assistant software; what do you mean by these? I'm guessing altitude = Basic Vertical, gyro = Basic pitch and roll and Attitude = Attitude pitch and roll.

If I'm right this would mean your setting are 170,170,150,150 for Basic and 70,70 for Attitude. Is this right?

Hi Steve,

For my first flight I started a little lower than those you quoted but now would like to try your gains. So as on the A2 assistant the set up is a little different can you tell me if this is how you would enter your gains. ( I started with those given for the S800 which is all around 140). The first flight went well ! Thank you. Gary
