Not particularly sexy at any time, let alone in today's climate of moulded Phantoms, but an absolutely reliable and predictable flyer - plus, it can carry proper cameras, if you are turned off by the amateurish GoPro look and dealing with their stupid push button menus. Because this Okto is such a lightweight it is barely audible above four or five meters altitude. It is capable of safely carrying anything from a pocket Point-&-Shoot to a Sony NEX or a GH2, although the latter cameras would mean using a bigger camera mount, such as the SLR2, to accommodate their larger physical size.

It is perfectly set up and normal flight time with a 6600mah LiPo is in the order of 17 -19 minutes. The flat-8 configuration gives it built in redundancy. I know this from personal experience when the original cheapo props used to keep breaking in the air. The little Okto did a small shudder and then carried on as if nothing had happened. It is brilliant and VERY comforting to know that the loss of a motor or a prop is not going to trash everything. A flat-8 Octo can cope with at least one more broken prop - as long as they are not adjacent.

Other than some high jinks when it was new, that turned out to be some poor quality control on the FC with sloppy soldering of one gyro, this little Octo has never had any problems and has never been bent by a crash. It is so relaxing to fly because it has no bad habits. All the Altitude Hold, GPS, CareFree, Come-Home, Waypoint flight etc. work as they should and without any drama.
