got a quick question mainly targeted at our uk brothers out there, when you work for a uk based company and they ask you for risk accesment, what are they looking for exactly?

:) Ah! The Health & Safety Police! We LOVE them here in the UK :)

Risk Assessment is a basically straightforward list of "what could go wrong" and "how to prevent these things from happening". For example: a brick could fall on your head - wear a hard hat. Simple, huh?

See http://www.hse.gov.uk/risk/index.htm

Easy? You call that easy?
Yeah, what Jes said. Just identify any hazards and think of sensible actions to reduce the risk. If public are around, suggest signs and observers to warn people what is going on. If roads or structures are nearby think about keeping your distance etc.

A risk assessment is just to show you have thought of the risks involved. Mostly they won't even look at the stuff you send them but they have to ask for it to tick their little boxes.

Any help?

Hi Kloner, I have sent you a PM with an example risk assessment. Top tip, read this if it's bedtime and you are not feeling sleepy!!!
