Retracts

I bought mine at GotHeliRC but looking on their site now it seems they've gone up in price. I could have sworn when I bought mine it was around $50 for the pair, now it's $44.95 each retract - http://www.gothelirc.com/products/2506-tarot-retract-landing-gear-for-x4-x6-x8/
You will also need their controller - http://www.gothelirc.com/products/2453-tarot-650680690x4x6x8-retract-controller/

Tried looking for my receipt to confirm price but can't find confirmation email at this time. Still a good deal for just over $100.

I think I always paid around $118 for a set with controller... which is INSANE. Just a year ago, the cheapest retract that actually worked wee $750

Yea, I well remember building a 1200mm Vulcan and the set up for DJI retracts was going to put me back close to $900 or so at the time.

Maybe they always were around $100 for the retracts for the pair, just now they seem to be selling them as single units.

mine are actually RC timer, i didn't fly them much but they worked well, fwiw

i've also got a pair of Arris here but haven't tried them yet.

I'm flying a set of Arris gear on my 810 and they've been great so far. Probably about 100 cycles. I have seen a couple of folks complaining but most were installation issues (no controller etc.)
Oddly I went with Arris when I saw a bunch of complaints about the Tarot gears lol.

But I think they're all a little weak due to the servo's everyone uses.

At Phobotic we're working on getting our controllers to play nice with Rotating Landing Gear and then i'll probably switch back. Retracts give me the willies lol.

Hey guys, I'm actually looking for a set of gear for a 700 size camera helicopter. I bought a set from Hobby King, huge ones for a large airplane. One of them works, and one of them is defective, the shaft for one of the gear clusters is too short, and pops out of it's hole. I can warranty it, but doesn't give me the warm fuzzies you know?

I actually have a Tarot X8, and those gear work well so far. But, I'm not sure they'd hold up to a 20-25lb helicopter? The potential shaking on spool up might be a problem? Or... coming in for a hot autorotation landing, I'm sure they'll fold up.

Anybody have any thoughts? Maybe the X8's would work? I notice Tarot calls those "medium sized" gear, to they make a large?

Welcome to MultiRotorForums.com!!
Rob,

You can have the RC Timer ones to try out, they're pretty strong but the brackets and everything need some space for mounting. I can post pics later tonight if you're interested.

Price is twenty minutes of your time! ;)

Looks like E-Flight has some not terribly priced gear that would work. And then there are electric Robarts for 24lb planes which should work for sure.

I'm highly unlikely to put anything RCT on this thing. ;) But thanks. You can have my time though, just have to set something up.
